I need some opinions! Should I wear this dress with the ribbon belt, or no belt? It is still being altered so ignore how sloppy the back looks and how off the pearl buttons are in color, it will all be fixed! Just torn on wearing the ribbon belt, or not wearing the belt…. thoughts?

Hmm, I like it a bit better without the belt from the front, but think the ribbon adds a pretty and romantic touch from the back! I’d say no belt. The dress is gorgeous and the plain ribbon takes away from it a bit in my opinion. Or if you did want a belt, maybe do something thinner with pearls, and a ribbon tie in the back?

“Belt” but no bow. Sew it on so it looks like it came with the dress like in the picture on the lower right.

Honestly, I think they both look nice. If you wanted to accentuate your waist more then I’d go for the belt, but they both look pretty.

I agree with PP – a ribbon back really flatters the dress back there, but it doesn’t really do much up front.
If you have time and alterations yet to do, what I actually would do is have the seamstress add a ribbon decor below the buttons – I’ve seen that done 🙂 Just a simple tie! The ribbony effect works really well with that skirt, but I don’t think a full-on belt flatters the dress in the front since there’s no dangling ribbons on it in the front, obviously.

Overall I say without. The back looks nice with the bow, but it is also nice without.
Meanwhile, the front looks like you just walked into any craft store and used a random ribbon vs. Being a purposeful coordinated decision meant to enhance the design of the dress. It just looks a little sloppy to me and does nothing to actually enhance/add to the dress in a meaningful way.

I like it better with belt, as it accentuates your waist!

I love the belt– agree with the above, it accentuates your waist!

gmj401 : I completely agree with PPs! The bow adds a pretty touch to the back, but does nothing for the front.

I like the belt sewed on.

gmj401 : Without, hun!
Let your dress do its thing! It was made for that lace to hug your body. Once its altered, it will look how it was intended to look and you will be beautiful. 🙂

I vote belt. I think it looks more tailored to you and classic with it!

I feel like the belt is ruining the “ombré” effect of the lace. Like it on the back but really do not like it in the front at all. It does nothing for the dress except take away from the lace IMO. And front>back so I vote no belt!

gmj401 : I like the delicate ribbon belt. Keep it!

Like the belt but not with ribbon bow in back as you loose the effect of the buttons could you look for a smooth belt or look for something to sew to the front to break up dress but leave the back smooth
