I have been on tons of all inclusive vacations.

Anywhere from 297-2500 for a week.

They are great.  You can be active if you want to, there are always activities if you want to get involved, or you can lay on the beach all day and night.

The food is usually good to world class, to just passable in Cuba.

Dec/Jan is peak time to go to the carribean, so prices will probably be high at that time.

Book something close to town (so you can get a taste of local culture), and stave off boredom if you feel so inclined.

International booze is always nice, house brands tend to be very cheap tasting

24 hour snacks are always a plus

Stress about picking out exactly the exact resort and date.  They are honestly all about the same.  Everyone, the 297 included was great (it was a 4 star).  They all have mostly the same ammenities and excursions.

Feel like you have to book right away.  Best deals are often found JUST before (1-2 weeks)

Stress out reading reviews.  The people that post are often ridiculous, and are not typically a reflection on what the resort is actually like.  I’ve seen ones that complained about the wet smell of a beach front room, the heat in August, saying there was not one piece of fruit, to go the next week and be surrounded by fruit.

We went to Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica, and it was INCREDIBLE. Excellent food, beautiful grounds, super romantic, fairly small… it was paradise! I think it was about $350 a night, which isn’t bad when you factor in all the food, drinks, and other inclusions.

I’ve also been to Aventura Spa Palace and Moon Palace in Mexico. Both are really fantastic as well, but I prefer a smaller resort for a honeymoon.

I’ve also heard incredible things about Le Blanc in Cancun. It’s pricey, but everything is supposedly top-notch.

My friend and I went to an all-inclusive in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico and it was beautiful and fun.  It was a long time ago, so I don’t know if “Fun Jet” is still around, but it was all set up through that company.  They had some pretty good deals, so if they aren’t defunct it would be worth seeing what they have to offer.

One weird quirk about the hotel was that they insisted that you order food if you wanted room service to bring any drinks to you.  There were a LOT of these calls: “Hi, we’re in room 555. We need a mini 6 inch cheese pizza and 6 negra modelos with limes.  Thanks.”  We weren’t hungry and it was the smallest food item on the menu, and they wouldn’t bring more than 6 drinks at a time.  But hey, they kept delivering it all, so we were happy.  And drunk.

Congrats on your marriage! I am waiting for the honeymoon as well, we are taking a Royal Carribean cruise. The prices weren’t outragous as we booked in June, but I’m not sure how they are now.

We went to Hacienda Tres Rios in Rivera Maya in May.  Gorgeous gorgeous.  Great food.  Service was impeccable!!  Their website does not do their place justice.  We had the best time.  Snorkeling, kayaking, biking, catamaran sailing were all included in the price as well.  You could sit by the pool, play beach volleyball or just lay on the beds by the beach all day.  We really loved it and plan to go back again. 😉

We’ve used http://www.travelbyjen.com for a couple trips – the prices were great and we stayed at Secrets Silversands and paid only $1500 for both of us for 7 days… WITH AIRFARE!  Crazy deals.  Totally worth it.

@diamondsandpearls9112:  We got married in June and honeymooned in Riviera maya Mexico! It was gorgeous! We are already planning to go back for our 1 yr anniversary! The resort is beautiful, weather is nice, suites are gorgeous…we could not have asked for a better time! All  inclusive is definitely the way to go! The service was exceptional! The resort was called Eldorado Royale! We stayed there from Sunday to Friday, and we did not want to come back! If you want to party and drink all day and night you can do that(they have 17 bars ON the resort), you can be as active or inactive as you want, eat as much as you want WHENEVER you want! Simply a fabulous place to honeymoon and my husband and I are very particular so trust me….you will not be disappointed.

I found that cruising is very good value for money. Celebrity for that extra touch of luxury!
