So, we are team green and expect our bundle of joy in December. We have narrowed it down to 3 names we both all LOVE for a girl but are struggling with the names for a boy.
There is one name (Ben) that we really like but it starts with the exact same two letters as both DH’s (Bernhard) AND my first name (Beatrice). Do you think that is a little too many “B”? We are already called B&B….
our choice is limited by the fact that the name needs to be very similar in German and English. we don’t want a difference in pronunciation. Other names we consider are Mike, Colin or Dominic
Last name starts with a G.
Thank you for your honest input! I won’t take your comments personal. And if you have some names you care to share – go for it!

It may be a little Kardashian but I’ve always been a fan of the same letter game if you can swing it. My Fiance is C i’m C and i’d be THRILLED to have a C baby… if only I liked a C name..
Anyhow BEN is a great name. I’d go for it!!

@elchalten: My cousin’s initials are BB and he gave his son the same initials. I think it’s sweet.

@Trixxie_90: haha… the Kardashian’s are probably the reason why I think it may sound silly in the first place. Luckily they are not popular in Europe at all. Our family/ friends over there won’t think of them right away…

My sister, her husband, and their 2 boys all start with “D”.
My mom named my sisters an I so we all have “Ann” in our first names (three of us start with Ann, and the fourth is DeAnna).
Obviously I think it is cute and say go for it!

@elchalten: Don’t overthink it. If Ben is the name you like, do it. If you were specfically trying to pick a B name, I’d think that was weird, but if you just happen to like that one best, and it meets your criterion of being similar in English and German, then go with it. Some strangers might think you’re odd once in a while, but who the hell cares?

@elchalten: Ben is awesome. Being the 3Bs s fine. My name is Jessica, moms-Jane, Dad-Jack….guess what…FI-Joshua…Ha! I love it! Everyone else does too! For the longest time we were called the 3Js. My mom would sign all cards from our family to whoever as JJ&j. Somehow I met Fiance and his name started with a J too! His mom loves it too. She thinks we should name our kids Josie and Jesse…LOL NO!!! Its unique.

My Fiance, her mom and her grandmother all have Lynn in their name. We’re pushed to have a ___lynn girl. (over my dead body really… but that’s the family tradition)

Ben is a great, classic name. You can never go wrong with Ben, cute for a little boy and good for a man as well.

My husband and I are both K’s and we’d love to have our baby with a K name. Go for it! Ben is too cute!

Pick the name you like the best, regardless of how many B’s you’ll have. Lots of families go for alliteration. It’s more important that you like the name by itself because your child will have it forever.

my mom has 7 brothers, and all of their names start with R (as did her father’s)! I see nothing wrong with it! If you love the name, go with it 🙂

@elchalten: I know a family:
Brian, Bryanne, Brian Jr., Brenna, Brielle, Braelynn. Last name also starts with Br.
It’s silly but I like all of their names.
