So. I’m the bride that thought she could keep the dress budget low. I bought an older Alfred Angelo at a liquidation in my area. It is still my favorite dress. BUT I wasn’t sold on it. It’s a bit too white of an ivory. It is synthetic, which I didn’t want, BUT it doesnt wrinkle! 🙂 lol
THEN I bought a Chinese custom that, although well done, doesn’t fit right and I dont know if I can alter it.
THEN I nabbed a $30 gown on ebay (too small).
NOW: trying to find another cheap option but want silk. I’m not necessarily looking for the latest styles but if not, would have to be classic.
SO without further ado. Help me compile brands that tend to use silk vs polyester fabrics as I would still really like to find a nice natural fiber dress.:
Silk and Blends:
Watters (Wtoo? or is Wtoo more budget conscious and synthetic?)
Tara Keely (sometimes?)
Mignon (this is “formal wear” but some great stuff for Spring 2014)
Vera Wang White

@jennyferr: Several Paloma Blanca dresses are a gorgeous, luxurious silk diupioni. What a treat to try on a dress that breathes!! I didn’t get one of their dresses but was so tempted.
edited to add – I tried on many Maggie Sottero dresses which were all 100 % polyester.

@jennyferr: BHLDN mostly carries dresses that are silk. They actually tell you the fiber content somewhere in each dress listing on their site, which is really nice. I adore their dresses, and they have a variety of styles and shapes. Most are around $1000 but some are a lot more.

Some that i remember trieing on and being super soft silk fabrics were by matthew christopher and ulla maija, but im not entirely sure if their entire lines are made of silk.

Nicole Miller has a number of silk or silk/cotton dresses.

I know my particular Marisa dress is silk. I think the lining is polyester. Not sure if all of Marisa’s dresses use silk.

@jennyferr: look at BHLDN or Ivy and Aster.

I thnk J Crew’s dresses are all silk.

Thanks for the list you’ve already compiled. Jcrew are mostly silk but not all so check the fibre content. Catherine Deane, carried by BHLDN, are silk, but not all the dresses BHLDN carries are. Jenny Yoo dresses are silk.
