Hi All!
Although I’ve been to many, many weddings in the past few years, very few of the brides have been from the DC area, where I live – so I don’t have anyone to ask about dresses!
My family is coming down in May, and I’d like to go dress shopping with my mother and sister while they are here. My budget is approximately $2,000 (not including alterations) so unfortunately I know that rules out Hitched in Georgetown. Do you have any recommendations on places to look for dresses in that prices range (and if they are close to a metro, all the better!).
Thank you in advance for any advice!!

Monk6552: Hi! I’m from the DC area and I got my dress at I Do I Do in Gaithersburg, MD. Their prices and selection were pretty good. I originally went to P. Lawrence in Gaithersburg but they had no dresses I was looking to try on, it’s a nice upscalish type store, but selection was limited in my opinion. Not sure how far out you are willing to go, but I recently found a place called Potomac Bridals in Frederick, MD. I WISH I had found that place before I found my dress. They had a HUGE selection. Good luck.

Check out Ellie’s in Old Town Alexandria. Cute little store and they carried lots of Allure dresses, nothing was over $3000. Also, I went to the Nordstrom Wedding Suite at Tyson’s Corner and tried on a few that were under $2000 ( like Jenny Yoo dresses). I had a great experiences at both places and would recommend them. Avoid Hannelore’s, ugh that place is the worst and so overpriced.
I haven’t been yet but I’ve heard good things about a place in Georgetown called Lovely Bride, they carry Watters which I believe are under $2000.

HoyaTerpDC: Thanks! I had actually been wondering about Ellie’s – had found them by googling, and they seemed reasonable – how is their selection?
