Ladies! I thought I made my decision on bridesmaid dresses, but now second guessing and need some input!
My dress is organza, sweetheart, with a little applique. I want black, long bridesmaid dresses. I initially selected Dessy 2842:
Until I found the Alfred Sung D453 and D457. They are the same exact dress (obviously Alfred Sung is a line under Dessy Group), but different fabrics. D453 is Peau de Soie, and D457 is Dupioni. Both are matte silks:
Does anyone have any input on which fabric I should go with? I’m tempted to go with the Alfred Sung to save my bridesmaids each about $30 but can’t decide if I like the satin better.
Here are the dresses in other colors because they’re hard to see in black. Totally the same dress, just a fabric choice!

I really like the flatter material of the Alfred Sung, and was looking at them myself. But some of the “real bride” photos on Weddington Way scared me away as they seemed a lot shinier. And my Mother-In-Law was telling me that dupioni can wrinkle easily (FH’s cousin’s baby’s christening… the baby had dupioni booties! lol). I would LOVE to see some more “in the wild” photos of the Alfred Sung dresses…

I think it depends on the kind of wedding you’re having. The satin would work if you’re having a more formal wedding IMO; the matte silk would look great with either but would go especially well with a more casual wedding. My two cents.

@DaisyBelle: Good tip! I initially was going for a more formal event, but it’s relaxed a little. The guys are wearing suits with ties instead of full tuxes with bow ties.
@goingtotherooftopoflove: I went to look at the fabric and liked the dupioni over peau de soie. The PdS I was afraid would be shiny still and the dresses they had there were kind of…puffy? not right description, but I just wasnt as impressed.
I’m going with the Dupioni to save the girls some extra $$ and also I think the satin will be too shiny/less forgiving in photos!!
Thanks for all the input!!!

Why don’t you just order some swatches?

my BMs wore Alfred Sung in black. Dupioni is slightly thicker than peau de soie. Three girls below are in dupioni and one is in peau de soie (due to an ordering mishap). Both are so similar that you can barely tell. Friend on the far right is in peau de soie. My little sister rewore her Bridesmaid or Best Man dress to the presidential inaugural ball.
$136 is an awesome price for the dress.

Everytime I see that shiny fabric, I think cheap prom gown. That’s the truth. Like the other selection better. At least it will be able to be cut and worn again as a party dress without looking like you are 17.

I like the satin- more formal, more elegant.
