Hi! I am maid of honor in my sister’s wedding and we found the perfect bridesmaid gown.
We ordered it from an Asian manufactor (DressyWoman.com) for ~$180 and all their reviews seemed great. When I got the dress in the quallity we not what we expected.
You can see the buttons, stitching, and the fabric are clearly different. I am returning the dress.
After much research I found out the first gown was actually a $1500 gown from Portia & Scarlett. Which made me love the dress even more because our mom’s name was Scarlett (who recently passed away). We are absolutely in love with this dress, but are trying to keep the dresses under $200. Any suggestions on how to find a more legit remaker of this gown? Or possibly a borrowed version of a couture gown? Or even other sites that might sell a similar gown for cheaper? We are very stuck on off the shoulder, mermaid, light blue/purple tones, and lace. Thank you for any help or advice is very appreciated!

Have you checked Rent the Runway to see what they have available?
It’s just not realistic to expect high end details, design, fabric and craftmanship at a low end price. You are bound to be disappointed in one area or another.
You might get lucky if you find your size on a site like Nordstrom Rack. If you are flexible on color etc you can order two of these dresses at the sale price to get the extra fabric you would need to add the off the shoulder datilaing

you can ask people here of places they know that you can rent the original gown (like Rent the Runway), or you ask if anyone knows of a similar style dress, but you *can’t* ask if anyone knows someone who will remake/knock off the dress – it’s against the Wedding Bee TOS.

I’m sorry, but you probably should have known. Those sites are widely regarded as scams, and steal photos from real sites. The first thing that comes up under a google search ‘dressywoman review’ is that it’s a scam.
ANYWAYS, it’s past that, sorry to harp on it, but in case lurkers are looking – those chinese knockoff sites are total scams.
Have you looked at http://www.bhldn.com/? Check out their sale section – lots of nice looking dresses for under $200. They are legit and I find their clothes look high end.

When is the wedding? Some of these alternatives might not work time-wise for you.
What size are you looking for?
This dress is just one example of a mermaid style available on this website It is available in mauve and $165. A seamstress could use the fabric from the one strap and that bow to make off the shoulder straps.
Do a search for mermaid gowns, sort in order of pricing from low to high and see if there are any other dresses that might work for you.

The positive reviews are all fake on those scam web sites. Sorry To be honest though, I don’t think it looks that bad, your figure looks nice in it. Be careful sending it back too, make sure you have tracking. I agree with etsy or finding a reputable tailor to see if the dress can be fixed.

Weddingbee does not allow discussions of replica designers. I’m going to close this now.
