- Wedding: October 2012
Okay, so I had one girl that was on standby to be in the wedding party because she was checking out her financial situation. Turns out she couldn’t make it, which is okay and I totally understand.
There is another girl that I met in class last semester, and we really hit it off and were constantly talking everything wedding (she got married a few months ago.) We have been meaning to get together, but have been talking constantly through texts/facebook and I decided that I want to invite her and her husband to our wedding. I invited her to my shower just the other day (the invitations were already sent out, so I just informally asked her) and she said she will definitely come as soon as I asked her.
The more I talk to her, the more I am thinking I would like to have her in the wedding. So, here’s the problem.
The shop I’m ordering the bridesmaid dresses from gave me an estimate of ordering 3 months out. When I went in for a fitting the other day, the woman called the company and told me that if I order it has to be by tomorrow by 5 PM. Unfortunately, no one is in the store for the 4th of July, so the dresses have to be ordered by TODAY. It’s possible they could come in sooner, but we would probably have to pay for rush shipping to be safe. I have the size chart, so she could just take her measurements and call to order, but I know that it is totally spur the moment.
Is it rude/weird for me to ask this girl to be a bridesmaid even though we don’t know each other very well? What about springing the dress having to be ordered right away on her?
Another option is to tell her, and offer to pay for the $20.00 rush shipping.
Do you think I should ask her? If yes, what should I say? Please help!!!!
tl;dr: Should I ask a girl to be my bridesmaid even though I just found out the dress has to be ordered by today? (Can be ordered with measurements by phone)
