I think it totally depends on what tux color you have. I’m getting married in September and am in love with all things fall. To me and my fiance, it was natural to choose brown and orange as our main wedding colors, but the burnt orange dresses didn’t look the best on all my BMs’ skintones. I chose brown tuxes, latte dresses, orange ties (for the GMs only) and will have orange flowers in all the bouquets. It’s a way to bring the orange into the color scheme in another way than just the dresses.

If you go with red, I think a dark red is good, but you need to go with one that has more of a brown tint to it instead of pink. My mom got a wine-colored dress that compliments the brown in the tuxes very nicely.

Whatever you decide, I’m sure it will be wonderful! Good luck!

Here are orange bm dresses from a wedding I attended in Aug 06.  The color looked great on everyone.

I REALLY love these dresses on the left of the middle row.  I almost used them for my wedding, but my sister vetoed it (she was the only one)…BOO to her, I’ve written a lot about how I would have just picked what I wanted, so pick something that makes you and everyone else happy.  Oh, and I believe they are by #996 by Bari Jay.  This was another top contender because of the beautiful color.

I was in a friends wedding in Sept 2008 and we had these beautiful blue/grayish dresses.  They looked great on everyones skin tone and she did two other colors with it too-a burnt orange and a wine red.  It looked really nice-here is a pic of the dress color.  It looks a tad blueish but its very beautiful and fall like in person!

I am going with orange and brown for our fall wedding.  My sister chose "chinese red" dresses from Siri for her September 06 wedding.  They were gorgeous!

If I were having a fall wedding, I’d be all over J Crew’s "vintage burgundy" silk tricotiene dresses.  I love deep red, I don’t think it’s too Christmas-y at all unless you’re pairing it with bright green!

But the navy dresses with fall-inspired flowers would be a great look too.  I love that you got inspiration from such a cool source!

What about a yellow?  But I do like orange.  Is your fiance also against rust?  A rust color might look nice.

Maybe I missed it, but what does your Fiance have against the brown dresses.  You can find some very reasonably priced brown dresses that are beautiful and totally rewearable from non-bridesmaid type places.

I love the deep red idea. I’m especially in love with this gown in pomegranate.

I think blue would be really pretty…especially with the fall colored flowers…they would really pop.  Plus, navy looks good on just about everyone…not to mention it looks classy.  I really love the color of this dress..    http://www.watters.com/product.php?coll=watters&showid=889.  Anyways, that’s just my two cents
