Check out BHLDN and JCrew. They are ready-to-wear, so they only take 1-2 weeks to come in. I’m not sure what your budget is, but that would leave time to alter a neckline or change the shape or something. These are some that I love:

i tried this one on and was in tears, but i didnt end up feeling bridal enough in it: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-wedding-dresses/aiguille-gown/productoptionids/fbcaeb8b-b90b-4e9a-9313-32da085940dd

you mentioned having a nice figure, and the back of this dress, in person, is to die for. It’s straight up Angelina Jolie: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-wedding-dresses/mickael-gown/productoptionids/fbcaeb8b-b90b-4e9a-9313-32da085940dd

this is really simple, but add a sash and a statement necklace and it’s amazing: http://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bride/gowns/PRDOVR~47605/47605.jsp' defer='defer

anyway, tons more on both sites, but maybe ready-to-wear and then adjusting it from there is the way to go. Good luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

also, the dress that I ended up choosing is the Augusta Jones Marilyn. It’s an A-line, but you can definitely tell that I am shaped like the curvy size 4 that I am and it is amazing. I’m adjusting the neckline to a sweetheart.

Mine was the J. Crew Sophia, fitted on top but pretty flowy in the skirt. It was SO comfy! Lots of people thought I’d wear a fully fitted dress but this was seriously more comfortable than sweats.

maybe something like this, but with less puff? I put the second pic so you can see how it goes dow ur butt to give you shape and show off your curves but not a complete mermaird dress.. sorry the pics are so big! Oh and not to self… the top pic was for bridal shoot… we noticed my dress needed a lil more alterations which got done for the big day!

How about a Saja dress? They have some beautiful, flowy dresses.  I like this one..

@multinational:  You have very similar tastes to me! I really like the Reem Acra – I am Beautiful, but I think the skirt may be a bit too A-Line for your tastes.

If you still want to have a dress made, Dressilyme is supposed to be good and they have a much faster time frame – about 1 -2 months.  I got a quote for the dress above and it was under 300$, so maybe send them an email? If you do a search for dressilyme on the ‘bee, you can see lots of reviews.

I have very similar taste! I bought the dress in the first picture (Willow by Jenny Packham) last month. I had been looking at those pictures of it online everyday for about 3 months and knew that unless I tried in on, I would never be able to stop thinking about it. I finally found a store near me (well, a ferry ride away) that carried it and decided to go and try it. It was the first dress I tried on and it was even better than what I had expected – and my expectations were high! Of course I had to try on a few more after going all that way, but nothing even came close to comparing!
