So, my wedding is now less than 2 months away, and I am definitely feeling the stress. Big time. Just trying to keep my head straight feels hard enough 🙁 I live in Maine and my family is out of state and not very involved in the planning, and my fiance and I are paying for 90% of the wedding ourselves. So..I need to be frugal when I can!
I am also at the point in wedding planning where I’m panicking over wedding costs, which we had been doing a great job of managing. Once we started receiving RSVPs it became clear that more people will be attending the wedding than we expected (especially considering the wedding is taking place at a Maine summer camp and many of the guests will need to travel and/or sleep in cabins!) That being said…the more people who attend, the higher the pricing for just about everything.
Here’s the deal: I am considering nixing the white tablecloths from my reception decor. My original decor plan: white floor length tablecloths, burlap runners, wildflowers, white votive candles in glass and birch votive holders. My fiance’s father is making the birch votive holders for us by hand. We will use canoes out on the porch area to hold beverages. You get the idea. Simple, but pretty. The reception is taking place in the 100 year old dining lodge of the camp, and has a lot of rustic beauty.
The tables are made of real solid wood and are in good shape. They are sealed and polished and have solid wooden feet (See pics). Since they are not your run of the mill rental tables (which are typically VERY beat up), I’m wondering if I can pinch some pennies by skipping the tablecloths? The tablecloths are $14 per cloth. A lot of the cheaper ones online are selling out fast 🙁 I would use only the burlap runners with the wildflowers, votives, etc. I would obviously make sure the tables are very clean!
The other option would be to skip the burlap runners and just use the white tablecloths with the other decor.
I asked my mother her opinion but for whatever reason, her opinion on anything these days (if she even has one) totally pisses me off – so I am asking for help from you bees, who I can count on to be honest and impartial!
p.s. To get a sense of the venue and the feel of the place, I am also including some more photos of the dining room, where we will be having dinner, as well as the larger “hall” which is where we will be dancing (this room as the wagon wheel chandelier)! We will string simple lights from the wagon wheel chandelier. Also – a pic of the “aisle” of trees leading up from the lakefront to the dining hall! Just for fun 🙂 We are not super formal people…but I do want the place to look pretty.
Thank you for your help!
