I have a haircut coming up on Saturday and I want to do my own version of the PWC – I will have been growing my hair out for the wedding for almost a year and I’m pretty tired of it. I’ve always had short hair, so the cutting it off part doesn’t bother me. (I tried to grow it out 2 years ago and hated every day that it was past my shoulders.)
This is the type of style I’m interested in: Pinterest Idea Board for Long on Top/Pixie Haircuts (Pinterest inspiration board FTW.)
It’s a long-on-top pixie style that can be worn sleek for work, messy, or spiked up as a fauxhawk for a more edgy look.
This is what I look like on a normal day:
And I also wear glasses about half the time:
However I’m really waffling on this “pixie cut with long bangs” thing. I had an asymmetrical cut last year and didn’t like it. It was a little too in-between for me with the thick long side, and I didn’t like the and back – it looked too boyish.
This was the cut I was growing out for the wedding –
I would love you guys’ honest opinion. I love pixie styles but I’m worried that my face/head will be too small. The shape of my skull is a little weird – it’s very flat in the back so my actual head seems quite small. And I hate wearing any kind of dark lipstick, so amping up my lips is pretty much out.
Just so that I can say I said it – I’m not interested in if you personally like pixie haircuts or not. I know a lot of people don’t like them at all on principle of them not being feminine. I love them, but I’m having trouble visualizing myself in one.

@Minnow: I think you have the PERFECT face for a pixie cut! You are naturally very pretty, with great bone structure 🙂 I say go for it! These are my faves on your inspiration board:
DAMN I wish I could pull this look off!

You are adorable and remind me of Alice from Twilight.
I would get a longer pixie with bangs instead of something short and spiky.

You’re concerned about looking boyish… I think it would look too boyish on you.

+1 I really love the first picture, that would look great on you. Love the darker hair too

I think a pixie cut is perfect for a small head/face. There are some people on here that tell EVERY BEE “no” about cutting their hair.

I think you’d look really beautiful! I think you could also pull it off a little shorter on the top, like the picture of Anne Hathaway you have pinned!

I think if you do the cut, the trade-off has to be feminine makeup.
Not that your makeup isn’t feminine NOW, but in order to counter the boy-ish ness of a short hairdo, I think it’s usually a good idea to apply a little more – maybe just some tinted chap stick or some blush.
When I cut my hair short, it turned into this uncontrollable curly mop (when long, I have straight hair) and I was mistaken for a boy on more than one occasion!
At the time, I didn’t wear any makeup (and had rather chubby cheeks)
One thing I bought but never used much was hair wax – it’s aweseome for the winter but kind of floppy in the heat. It keeps your hair messy & tussled looking without making it hard and crunchy.
For some reason that was too much work for me (probably because mascara was, too, at the time) but it looked so much better when I used it.
So (IN CONCLUSION) that’s my vote – DO IT!
It will look ADORABLE!

you can definately pull it off. You have a very similar face shape to me. i got my pixie about 3 weeks ago and love it doesnt look boyish at all. Do it.
i do not wear much on my lips but wear dark eye makeup. I agree a pixie with side bangs would look great on you.

Agreed- love the first inspiration pic!
I wish I could pull this off as well. Post pics after the haircut- can’t wait to see it!!

@Minnow: Damn you and that awesome board!! I have a haircut coming up on Wednesday and mine is about the length in your first photo and now I want all those long on top pixies!!
I really really like the blond one that @PermaStudent:
pulled from your board. So much that I’m tempted to take it to my stylist…

@Minnow: Oh lordy. I agree with a PP above..some bees will tell everyone not to cut their hair. You’re a pretty lady and there is no way anyone is going to think you’re a boy. I say go for it.. I think your face will be perfect for a pixie.

I think your face would be accentuated by a pixie cut nicely, do it!!

You have the dream bone structure for a pixie. Do it!

DO IT! you have great boen structure…a floppy pixie will be uber cute on you.
If you want to girly up the look/makeup, do a smokey eye and nude lip! It is my favorite look when I go pixie.
I think your asymmetrical cut was too heavy for your face… softer layers and more movement will look best. Long on top also gives more styling options.
