Oops, I voted for Vera Wang but I meant to vote for the first dress. It does not look frumpy at all – it looks classic and princessy (but in a sophisticated way) and your waist is so delicate-looking surrounded by all that fluff.

Hands down i LOVE the first dress. It’s amazing on you! the second dress is “meh”.

If you did buy another dress chances are you wouldn’t recoup even half the money you paid on the first….you could always try selling first and buy a used one with the money you got if you really don’t like it?

personally the first dress looks amazing in you IMO.

I would try a wide sash to pull in that fabric a bit!

do you have pictures of yourself in mermaid style dresses? I see so many people wearing them but they don’t look great on most bc they aren’t curvy and it does nothing for them IMO. I love your current dress and would add a small blingy belt like a PP suggested but I may change my mind if I see pics of you in something similar to the Ethel.

Okay – personal question (kind of). Did they put “chicken cutlets” in your dress top in the bridal salon? Your chest looks much fuller in that pic and I think that is what is throwing your home pics off for me. It’s the same dress, but you don’t look to fill it out quite the same at home. I feel like all you need is a little “oomph” up top and the dress would look perfect.

I really dislike the style of that Vera Wang and similar dresses.  I find the silhouette unflattering on just about everyone.

The dress you have already is beautiful.

Whoops, I voted for Vera Wang instead of the dress you currently have! LOVE the one you currently have, but if you have always wanted a mermaid, then I’d go try on similar dresses in a mermaid style to see if you like the fit and the way it looks. Both are gorgeous!

I had a slightly similar dilemma- I always thought I wanted fit and flare or mermaid fit, but my sister had me try on a dress just like yours and I loved it!!! It’s hard to get over your initial expectations of what you want, but I’m leaning toward buying the dress thats just like yours. Here is how I would look at it, and ask yourself this: Is there anything about my current dress that is really unflattering? Because if the answer is no, it’s not worth wasting $3k of your mom’s money!

My sister made a really good point to me and I hope this helps you too: Yes, fitted is absolutely gorgeous, but it’s uncomfortable to sit in, probably hard to dance in, and your body needs to be on it’s A game on the day of the wedding. And don’t forget it’s gonna be hard to pee in! Once she reminded me of those things, a looser dress kind of seems like a no-brainer. Hope this helps!!

I love the first dress! Think it looks amazing on you…so pretty and romantic. It looks like you have a tiny waist so I agree with the others…maybe get something (belt or sash) to emphasize more 🙂
