dear bees, i’ve been scouring the boards for days, PM-ing people who have had similar lanterns, google searching till the cows come home and i can’t find affordable, simple brown/copper/bronze-colored metal lanterns for $10 or less at a decent height (i’d like a nice-sized rustic lantern…at least 10″ high) anyone have any luck?
i definitely do NOT want black or white, which is the majority of what i can find. what we REALLY want is in the brown family… rustic look, and don’t want to paint them.
thank you if you can find anything!!!!
interested in something like this (looove it!)
or possibly http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/rustic-brown-metal-candle-lanterns-for-sale
ps i’ve searched save-on-crafts, joann’s, hobby lobby, my local craft store, flower factory, etc… most people have a lot of the same stuff, much of it moroccan.
this is the closest i’ve found…but 50% over budget at $15 each, and lines are too contemporary. http://www.bargainbunch.com/catalog/item/4147450/9426215.htm

Girlfriend, this is not a big problem – all you need to do is find lanterns you like in any color, and spraypaint them! I had never spraypainted in my life until a few weeks ago, working on some DIY projects, and I’ve found it’s super easy.
If you can’t remove the glass from the lanterns or are nervous about getting paint on it, then you can also buy acrylic paint and paint them by hand. the Martha Stewart brand of acrylic paint at Michaels has some great metallics, I’ve used the gold paint before.

I know you said you don’t want to paint, but passing these along in case you get desperate. I have these in black for centerpeices….for $7.99 and 11″ height, you can’t beat the price!
ETA: OP, are you sure your first linked lanterns weren’t painted brown? They kind of look like it to me. ??

hi girls, thanks for the links…the prices were too much on those, unfortunately.
aversion to spray paint is that i have a broken foot and any extra project right now (less than 2 months b4 the wedding) is too tough. BOO!
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE, THO!

This one is only 9 1/2 inches, but it is also only $4.50!
This one is also $15.95
There are lots of Moroccan style copper lanterns in your price range- do a google search.
Ther was an ad in the San Diego Craigslist recently for 12 copper candle langterns, but the ad has expired. You could try placing a wanted ad there.
