Our contract with the caterer includes fee charges for caterering team by hours. For instance, $35/hr for the supervisor for 7 hours. And the caterer said the gratuity are not included. Do we need to give additional tips? Will it be rude if we don’t? I read some posts here but I am still not sure. I read it online and from wedding guide books that sugguest to tip 15% – 20%. So do people usually pay for the fee charged for the serives and additional 15% – 20% tips?!

Our catering contract includes 18% gratuity/service fee. We will not be tipping beyond that.

There is an 18% grautuity built in to our caterer cost, so we are not going to be giving an additional “tip”. When we talked to other caterers that did not include the gratuity, I asked them what the normal/suggested amount should be, and they suggested $40.00 per person, but it would ultimately be up to us.

Our catering contract includes the price of the food and a “20% service charge on all food and beverage including bar beverages.” So in short, yes, we are paying 20% more to cover staffing, etc. We will not be tipping an additional amount though.

I think that all food contracts over a certain number of people have a 18-20 percent gratuity charge already added to the total. My catering contract had that.
