Hey there everyone, I am having a REAL hard time choosing wedding colors and flowers or to be more specific narrowing it down. Our wedding is going to be a high tea at a Victorian estate, I am going for a very classic/sophistcated and someone vintage look ( think Grace Kelly/Jackie o) my fiance and I like black and white, but I also would like to add in pink and gold, I also like mint green and pale blue…
The bridesmaids dresses I have been looking at are pink and white sripped ( Lily Pulitzer) or black and white striped ( Kate Spade) with strands of pearls.
In terms of flowers, I was thinking of doing white hydrageas for the bridesmaids or pink peonies, in terms of me I was thinking of having a white cascading orchid bouquet and using them for the ceremony and reception flowers. I also like Lilly of the Valley…and roses! ( I am using real touch/silk flowers mostly since my wedding is in September and I have very expensive taste in flowers)
My dress is a late 1940’s/early 1950’s ball gown in ivory silk, my veil is an antique cathedeal length all alcenon lace mantilla. My dress has a vintage vibe but also a very modern one.
Also one who can offer suggestions/pictures would be greatly appreciated TIA!!! Nicole

I think you should do pale pink, silver and champagne! I think those scream victorian and vintage.

@Nwestwood8: I love your ideas, it sounds like it will be very romantic. I wouldn’t worry about “colors” so much as long as everything is cohesive. Since it’s a high tea, find a tea set with patterns/colors you like and use that as your inspiration for decor, like this one:
The Dowry Box blog has some nice descriptions of Grace Kelly’s and Jackie’s flowers. I love the daisies Grace K had the flower girls carry. It also looks like both women carried white/off-white bouquets. It seems the silk flowers are more expensive than the real ones so I’m not sure how it’ll be cheaper? I’d look at some other types of flowers that have a similar feel to the ones you like and add those in. In My Humble Opinion I think real flowers are nicer, especially for centerpieces that your guests will see up close.
Peonies: (I love carnations! They’re so pretty and last forever, if you let them open for a week they have such a pretty frilly look.)
Hydrangeas and Lily of the Valley:

@Nwestwood8: You could do pale pink, mint and gold; or do black and white and mix in either, the mint, the light blue or the pink.

@Nwestwood8: your wedding ideas sound amazing. if you and your fi both love black, i’m sure you will be able to incorporate that into your theme. i love it with the soft pink. i love lily of the valley too. will it be in season for your wedding?

I think you pretty much nailed it for yourself. You haven’t already thought of anything I wouldn’t have suggested. I’m also doing a “tea party” like theme with heavy Edwardian touches. I asked my girls to find a dress that was either tan, blush pink, peach, or lilac. Not sure about flowers yet, but think they will be a mix of those colors.
