I would wear the pants from a black suit and add a dressier looking top and jacket or sweater and some stunning shoes.

I’m a firm believer in not buying clothing that screams “Christmas” or “New Year’s”, but instead dressing up pieces I already own.

I’m going to a holiday party this weekend so I’m wearing a gray tulle skirt with a black blazer.  I haven’t figured out what top I’ll wear yet.

I think LBDs are the most easiest to accessorize with.  You can change up your look by just changing up accessories.  What does your dress look like?

This sounds ridiculous, but I always build an outfit from the shoes up…probably because I like shoes so much….anyway an afternoon event at a winery would indicate a casual yet sophisticated ensemble would be appropriate.

I think I would start with some caramel colored knee boots with a camel cashmere cowel neck sweater and a charcoal pencil skirt, diamond stud earrings, a flirty fishtail braid and natural eyes with a darker lip…but that’s just me.

I would probably wear a colored dress with tights and maybe boots since it’s in the afternoon and at a winery, which can be on the rustic side. I’d save the LBD for evening parties.

ETA: something like @Nona99 is suggesting is more along the lines I’m thinking of… an LBD might be out of place.

I would be dressy casual – no heels, but nice boots with either a casual but still nice dress and or skirt/nice shirt combo.

@Nona99:  Can I hire you to be my personal dressing assistant???  I have no fashion sense.

@CMSnails:  Booties would totally work!! That’d be perfect.

@nyscpa2be:  You would actually be like, the eighth person I do that for….I can’t really trade clothes with people, since I’m bizarrely attached to them and would die if something happened to any of my four closets worth of clothes…but I’m always happy to help people shop!

Now that you have added the pics, I would go with dress #2 or# 4. Wear with tights, and your booties.

You have lots of time to fix the hem. How long can it take? 10 minutes? if you don’t sew, use hem tape.

The first one is definitely too summery.  I vote #2.
