Hi bees – need your help. Got engaged two weeks ago and we’re getting married this summer…! Panic stations!! Found a GORGEOUS venue with availability and took the plunge with a deposit… now for the fun stuff – how to make this beautiful, historic venue look SUPER SPECIAL for our reception!
I have seen some of the marvellous stuff you bees have done with your own venues and want to pick your brains as I am a total novice only having been to two weddings in my life.
Should I go for chair covers? I’m allowed lots of candles and fairy lights, but what colours do you think I should do for the theme/centrepieces etc? Its a mid-August wedding, but it’s England so will probably rain… any help will be gratefully received! x

@lemons11: Honestly, this venue already has a lot of decoration….I’d go for chair covers and a pale sash…maybe candleabra centrepieces….? I wouldn’t do too much to it as the decor speaks for itself!

@ticatica: I second this. Your venue is gorgeous–you don’t want to go over the top.

@ticatica: I third this. You just need to add very basic things.

Keep it simple the decor is already in the building. From a color theme standpoint make sure to incorporate the colors that are already in the venue. I see a lot of red so that should be a color and so on. If you don’t everything will look to busy. It’s beautiful already 🙂

I agree with the other bees, the venue is already so beautiful, there’s no need to do much. Just flowers! Yes, I feel you should add the chair covers- it will look nicer and cleaner. I see lots of gold and red which could fall into part of your colour scheme? I feel bold colours will fit nicely.
Maybe something like this one? Love candles/ tealights idea too!

Beaitful space! Let the space do the work for you. Definitely chair covers, and then flowers in a gold vase to pick up on the gold in the rooom?

Get great chairs with simple decor as other Bees have said! Best of luck! Go with ivory/white, white plates, and ivory chair seating–it needs to be brighter and it will probably feel even bigger in there
P.S. It seems like it needs tons of brightness into the room. How about having a bunch of flickering candles on the table instead of florals? You could even hang candles in branches like this…?
