I have the same kind of hair as you by the sounds of it.

I went to Sally Beauty Supply and bought real hair extensions (about $80). The hair dresser clipped them in and did my updo. I had lots of hair to work with that way and it looked totally natural.

You can spend a lot on extensions, but I have the SBS ones and they work great. I bought them to be in a wedding a couple of years ago and have wore them many many times since.

good luck!

After responding to this post i realized that using my donut on my wedding day might be the perfect idea, so i just did an ultra fast trial. It is quite messy and i didn’t curl my hair because i was too lazy, but i think you get the idea of what it looks like with the donut

Sorry, I didn’t come back.

SBS = Sally Beauty Supply 🙂

there are tons of colors so you should be able to match…but since they are real hair you can die them. If they don’t match have your hair stylist match them to your hair color.

The secret is to buy real remy hair (remy means that the cuticle is laying the same way…this makes them more manageable)

I swear to you….YOU CAN”T TELL. My husband couldn’t even tell, and he helped me take my updo out.

Get some extensions.  I just bought some from Sallys this weekend.  90 bucks and it’s beautiful hair!

i have the same kind of hair as you. mine is a few inches past my shoulders. i was worried about not having enough hair or needing extensions, but i don’t. my hairstylist said loose updos are better for people with thin hair because she can tease the heck out of it. it really looked like i had A LOT of hair. sleek updos are when you run into a problem because they make it look like you have no hair.

i had washed and straightened my hair the day before my trial, and it curled fine. i think for the wedding i’ll just wash it the night before and let it air dry.

@kitzy:

Agreed. My sister is my stylist and she put my extremely fine, wavy hair in a loose updo that sat low and to the side. it looked great!
