I am trying to be very budget conscious for my bridesmaids, who are paying for their own dresses. So I tried to avoid the bridal salon route and we found a local seamstress who supposedly had tons of experience. She was a very socially uncomfortable person, but still seemed to know what she was talking about and had a bunch of great work in her shop.
Fast forward three months or so… ONE dress has been completed after FIVE fittings, and it’s not great by any means. For a number of reasons, we fired the seamstress. Most importantly my Maid/Matron of Honor and two of three bridesmaids live 1-4 hours away, so there’s just no way they could come down for that many fittings.
Now I can’t decide what to do about the dresses. I really REALLY want teal, and a very specific dark teal color, even though I know it limits my options. (A close match is Tealness by Alfred Angelo). Even if the price points were low enough at a bridal salon, most quote approx. 12 weeks for delivery, and my wedding is in 13 weeks. Suggestions?? Preferably aside from finding another seamstress, because I live in a rural area and not sure I want to take that risk again.
