Hey all! Sorry I’ve written so many posts about my wedding band. I’ve never really worn much jewelry before and I feel so clueless!
I’ve narrowed it down to 2 options. Basically two versions of the same ring. Both are white gold, princess cut, channel bands.
Clearly there’s a big price difference. I’d love to save the extra money – we’re actually a little short in other areas of the wedding, so it’d be a big help. BUT I don’t want to sacrifice really noticeable sparkle/quality. I won’t be wearing my e-ring after the wedding, so I want my band to be plenty sparkly.
Option #1 a custom band from Zales for $750+tax
# of stones: 8
Option #2 a band from My Jewelry Box on amazon.com for $395
# of stones: 12
These are the two photos – they are no help! :

diamonds that size aren’t as noticeable for inclusions. i would get the amazon one.

I like the look of the first one better, as it seems thinner and has more diamonds, but that’s a big price tag. Have you checked out Overstock? You might be able to get something similar to the Zales one for the amazon price.

I vote for the 1st one. This is something you’re going to wear for the rest of your life. Yes, you save a little with the second option…but a few years from now, let alone a few months, you won’t even remember those few extra hundred dollars. I’d spend the extra and get what you really want.

@abirdword: The images actually aren’t in the right order, sorry. The one with more diamonds is the cheaper one. The one with fewer stones is the expensive Zales one, but the photo isn’t accurate… if I change the number of diamonds the image remains the same.
I did actually check Overstock and some other sites and ended up narrowing it down to these two as the best options. I think Overstock was about $100 less than Zales for something similar. Thanks for the suggestion, though! I might do another quick search!

based on the details of each ring and that you will be wearing it alone and want lots of sparkle, go with the first one. the quality of the stones is better and the size of the individual stones will be larger on #1 vs #2.

@ana77: ah, ok. Then I double my vote for the amazon one!

I’d do the more expensive one… if you’re wearing it alone, you want it as sparkly as possible. As a PP said, the quality is higher and the stones are larger so it will show more on the Zales one. I also would pay attention to color, F-G is actually visually nicer than H-I… just thoughts 🙂

My vote is for the Amazon one. But, can you return if if you don’t like it in person?

Will you ever be wearing it with your e-ring? If so, I would care more about diamond colors matching on the 2 rings.

Thanks for all your help ladies, I really appreciate it! Good to know about the color making a real difference – I wasn’t sure how noticeable that would be.
I doubt I’ll ever wear it with my e-ring, so no need to match!
Both places appear to have really easy return policies so I think I’ll order both and return one. Unfortunately I still won’t be able to SEE them because I’m in S. America and these will go to my mom in the States until she comes down for the wedding. But at least she can try them on and send me “real” photos 🙂

Buy the cheap one for goodness sake. They freakin look exactly the same.

@ana77: Save money and get the one from Amazon. The clarity actually doesn’t influence the sparkle.. the cut does so you’re ok there. Just make sure they are not cloudy when you receive it. Amazon has a great return policy.
