- Wedding: May 2019
I tried to negotiate with our venue by offering to pay the full payment upfront in cash, but they could not agree to a discount even with that offer.
In the end, we got a free “plan B” space in case our original plan to have an outdoor wedding in the park cannot work due to weather etc.
The venue also covers food, we found cheaper dinner menus for the guests. And they originally asked for a per person lump sum for the finger food/drinks etc. Now if they calculate a flat rate they always do it on the safe side. So I asked for price per item and did my calculation based on my knowledge of my guests. In the end, it’d be much cheaper if we paid the actual consumption per item. So I strike a deal with the venue to pay by consumption and not the flat rate. My wedding is in 3 months, so we shall see if this is really saving the money my calculation indicated.
