I am freaking out! I just got my e ring in March. And whenever I tap the side of my ring, it sounds like something is rattling. This has been like that for months, it might have always done this, I don’t remember
. I took it into a jeweler to see if my center stone was loose. He said it was and tightened the prongs. As soon as I got back home, I gave it the ‘test’ of tapping the side and seeing if it rattled, it did. Does anybody elses ring rattle when tapped? I thought there should be no noise when tapped. I tried to see if I can see the ring being ‘moved’ when I tap it, but it doesnt look like its moving. My ring is pallidium, and moissanite. I tried contacting the company I got it from to see whats going on and they said they can’t help me until I give them my confirmation number, which is just great cuz I can’t seem to find it..so what do you guys think? Is it the setting? Or is this normal or what??? Thanks in advance. Im going to include pics of my ring so you guys can see the setting and how high it sits up.

The stone is loose for sure. See if you can twist the diamond, mine rattled and I could turn it. Had to get it adjusted. Maybe you have a smaller stone loose.

It should definitely NOT be rattling. I had a RHR with 6 pink sapphires in it as well as some diamonds, and it only EVER rattled when a stone was loose.

Grrr this makes me so mad, cuz I went to a jeweler, he checked it out and said it was fine. I am so going to a different jeweler.

I don’t know about the rattling but I would suggest getting a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers. You can check the stones yourself!
Be gentle, don’t gouge, run the tweezers over the top of each stone. Then use them to gently push on the side of each stone (especially for the side stones!). You shouldn’t see any movement.
Rocking or spinning is bad news. Just be careful not to confuse movement with the reflection of the tweezers moving.
Maybe this will save you some headache, uncertainty, and running around! 🙂

Go to the jeweler, a different one. It’s not fine. My jeweler always checks by lighting tapping my ring to see if it’s loose and you should be checking for that every year. Yours is definitely loose.

Definitely need to get the prongs tightened! Mine jingled and they tightened it and took less than 2 minutes! Even if your jeweler says it is fine, just say you want it tightened for reassurance!

@MissS2MrsD: He did say it was loose and tightened the prongs! That makes me so mad, because I didn’t even have it for 5 min and I noticed the ring was making the noise again. But I thought that maybe it was supposed to do that cuz I was just in the jeweler and he checked it out and tightened it and said it was fine after that. Does yours jingle anymore?!

@MsPiggy: Oooh weird, mine does not jingle at all! At this point I would take it to another jeweler and ask them why it still jingles because then they will give you an honest answer and be more willing to help! Also my prongs are the same as yours so a constant jingle is not normal.

@MissS2MrsD: OOOO Ok! Thank you so much! I was wondering if maybe it was my type of prongs…but you have the same ones and it doesn’t do that. Grrr I feel a headache coming on. lol

@MsPiggy: I know how you feel, my jeweler is in my hometown so I had to wait a few weeks before I could go to them. I didn’t even want to clap with my ring on because I thought the diamond would fall out! haha

It might be the channel set side stones. Take it back to the jeweller

If none of your diamonds are loose maybe its your head. 😀
Well… not your head but the head on your ring. See if it looks cracked or off at all.

Last timeI went to the jeweler he told me my prongs were loosed and I needed to have them tightened…I asked him how I would know and he said to hold the ring to my ear and flick it with my finger “you hear that rattling sound?” that means it’s loose….sooooooooooooooo that’s how you know your prongs need tightening!
