- Wedding: January 2013
I’m normally a big creepy lurker, stealing all kinds of DIY knowledge here, but now I need advice: I’m stuck between two dresses.
Half my bridal party is here with me in LA, and the other half (and all of my family) are in Michigan, where the wedding will be, so no one has seen me in both dresses. And I just cannot choose. Unfortunately I am NOT one of those girls who will try on a dress and go “WOW! THIS IS IT!” and so I am just agonizing and weighing pros and cons, etc.
Cost isn’t really an issue – I would buy used, and I found a couple of each that were right around $600-$700. I would get both in ivory, and I would have whichever dress I chose converted to a corset back. And I prefer a sweetheart neckline, so I would have it made it into a sweetheart neckline if possible (if it’s not possible, not a huge deal).
My issue is that I love the bodice of dress #2 (CWG324) but am sort of so-so on the skirt – I don’t like the shape of the skirt as much as on #1, and I don’t love the fabric as much. But I think that part of it is because it is mostly plain fabric with just appliques, whereas #1 is like solid lace with more sparklies, so if somehow #2’s skirt could be “sparkled up,” that would be perfect.
But, I love the skirt on dress #1, because it’s sparklier and looks like fresh snow when I move, but I don’t love the bodice – it doesn’t look like it *goes* with the skirt, if that makes sense.
So, my question to you: Dress #1, Dress #2, or…. do you think it would be possible to sort of change the skirt on dress #2 so it’s more like the skirt on dress #1?
