MimiEmerald :  I have an emerald cut RHR and I can’t say I have had this problem.  Are you sure it is dirt that is bothering you and not just the fact that it doesn’t sparkle quite the same as a round brilliant or other shapes that are cut more for light return?  FWIW, I think your diamond is insanely beautiful.  The l-w ratio is perfect and the cut looks impeccable.  I hope it works out for you!!

I have an emerald cut diamond too. The thing about emerald cuts is that they don’t have as many facets to hide dirt as most other cuts. However, I do not experience the same thing with my emerald as yours, mine is definitely not a “high maintenance stone”. I clean it maybe once or twice a week, but I don’t think it’s excessive.

Your ring is gorgeous. I also have an emerald cut and have not experienced what you describe.

MimiEmerald :  My setting is very open as well, just a simple four prong setting. A lot of the diamond is exposed.

MimiEmerald :  why don’t you wash your hands with it on? That will help wash away some of the daily dirt. I have an emerald cut as well and if I don’t have time for a full clean I do a quick hand wash with dish soap and it is shiny again.

MimiEmerald :  glad it helped! Some bar soaps or creamy soaps make my stone kind of dull, but the dish soap (or clear soaps) help a lot.
