I haven’t gotten to that stage yet so there’s probably not a lot of advice I can offer, but I have actually seen some people rent dresses from rent the runway for their engagement photos. That might be an option. Another tool to try and find something is the app LIKEtoKNOW.it This app basically consolidates outfit posts from fashion bloggers and has links with where to find everything they purchased. It is really great to get inspiration.

rugga19 :  Below, some outfit ideas; as for your fiance, greys and dark blues would work nicely.

We just got ours done! Our location was by the river full of beautiful fall coloured leaves. I wore a purple sweater & jeans. He wore a plaid red/orange/grey sweater & jeans. Worked out great. I didn’t want fancy. One thing I did do that I am so glad I did was get my makeup professionally done! Looked so much better! And I just curled my hair myself 🙂

We just had ours done. We kept to neutral color scheme and it worked out really well. As far as poses, we just kind of followed our photographers direction. If you have a good photographer, they should lead you on that.

Here’s a photo, so you can kind of see how our outfits coordinated.

My fiance and I went casual/pretty neutral (grays, whites, and blues) and I liked how we looked together!

As for poses, our photographer didn’t have us do anything beyond the basics, but he had us talk to each other and get each other laughing. My favorite pictures ended up being the ones where we were just laughing and having fun. Felt more like “us” than the super posed ones. So I personally recommend making sure your photographer gets some good candids of you guys!

Here are a two if my favorite pictures as examples:

Here’s what we wore! We decided on one nice outfit and one casual one. We didn’t want to look matchy matchy, but still wanted to coordinate.

Oh yay, congrats!  🙂

I would say that if you’re able to do 2 looks, then it gives you a chance to mix it up..  maybe one dressier, another more casual.  Also, have you decided where you’ll be taking the photos?  I also prefer the interacting photos, some motion, though you won’t be able to escape the usual posed photos.

Post a few afterwards and show us!

We just had ours taken! I only got a few sneak peeks from our photographer so far (and I’m SO EXCITED to see the rest now) But I struggled soooo hard with outfits. I ended up throwing them together the night before…

*facepalm*

We wanted some a little more fancy (so I had a dress and he had a sweater), and then I swapped my dress for a faux-leather jacket, and then we went way casual and did plaid and a light jacket and then even further casual and added hats to that last outfit near the end of the session.

We wanted to balance the fall colors outside so here’s what we ended up with (ft. one of our cats):

AAAANNNNNND because I’m obsessed, here’s two of our sneak peek photos.

One where our photographer was up in a tree:

And one where he had one light high up in the tree and one light behind us.

We just took our photographer’s advice when it came to poses. We came into it without having any specific poses we wanted to do and he just let us have fun with it and tried new things because we were open to it.

Other advice I have is to bring a hairbrush, a handheld mirror, some blotting powder, and HAVE FUN! 🙂

We decided to go formal, its all about what you like and want! We took our picture in Iceland, and for poses, we just went natural and got some directions from our photographes. I brought two dresses but decided not to change because it was freezing.
