I’m set on purchasing the Enzoani Dakota but have only been ably to try on the ivory and not the white. I would love to see some real brides in both!! I’m also concerned with the ivory of the dress not matching the men’a white shirts. Opinions/thoughts welcome!!

@LaurenVB: I can’t help with the dress part, but I’m wearing an Ivory shirt and when we went to go look at tuxes Fiance was asking them about him wearing an ivory shirt but the Groomsmen wearing white and the tux shop said you definitely don’t want white AND ivory. If you have a white dress than obviously white shirts are fine, but if you decide to go with an ivory dress, you might want to get the guys ivory shirts. They look pretty similiar in color, I actualy wouldn’t have realized it wasn’t white had the tux shop not compared it for us but they said you can definitely see the difference in pictures if you have both colors. Just a thought 🙂

@LaurenVB: I got the ivory. Do the men already own white shirts? Normally I would buy the dress first! Always do ivory with ivory, white with white. Most tux places offer both white and ivory shirts for this reason. I loved the ivory, it was a warmer color and I thought the white would be too stark for my complexion.
ETA: If your wedding is July, I would be ordering ASAP. It’s getting close!! It took my dress 3.5 months to come in.

First things first- I recommend picking your dress color first and then determine the shirt color that goes best w the dress, not the other way around.
it’s not just a coincidence that the enzoani dakota model pics are in ivory and that most salons have the ivory sample. Enzoani thinks this dress is best in ivory. Also search on the bee- a few others have faced this question and posted pics. I also google-searched. imo the romantic feel of this dress is best carried out in ivory. Stark white doesn’t flow as well with the vintage romance kinda feel of the dress.
And, yes, my Dakota is ivory 😉

@LaurenVB: I know you asked me in an other post regarding my colour… since you can’t find a white, does the store have any Enzoani dresses in white to just look at and compare the two? Honestly, I just think the ivory is a softer look when compared to the white.
Otherwise I would do what the other Bee’s have suggested. Choose your colour first and then deal with the men’s shirts. As for timing — yeah, you have to order ASAP if your wedding is in July. Mine took 4 months to arrive.

I had this same dilemma! I tried the dress on in ivory and placed the order in ivory at first. The bridal salon didn’t even tell me the dress came in white. I then went home and started to have major dress regret. More so bc of the color. I did exactly what some of you are doing……researching to see if I could find it in white to no avail.
I decided to go with my gut and ordered the dress in white. The salon advised me to order it in ivory as they felt it would look cheap in white. Well, were they WRONG!!
The dress came in a few weeks ago and they were so WRONG!!! The dress is absolutely gorgeous in white. HOWEVER, I am African-American. Think Gabrielle Union’s color. I am a deep chocolate color. This dress is gorgeous in white. If you always wanted to get married in a white gown, do not settle for ivory. I don’t know why everyone is so sold on ivory. Granted, if the material is cheap, I am sure the dress won’t look good in any color.
