How many guests do you have and is it a sit down meal?

My first thought is that’s a really long cocktail hour. How come the guests aren’t being seated until 6:45?

Also, it’s down to personal preference I guess, but I would move the cake cutting to a little later in the evening. I feel it’s going to weirdly break up the continuity of the dances under your current schedule. Also, I presume everyone is still sitting at their tables finishing up dinner when you do your first dance? Do you then go to another part of the room to cut the cake? Do you want people to be able to watch this? If yes to those questions, I feel it’s a bit awkward because people get up to watch the cake cutting then people return to their seats for the parents dances? Also, does this mean the cake is being served right when people are starting to want to get out of ther seats to get the party going and start dancing?

I’d save the cake cutting for shortly before the bouquet toss. Give people about an hour to be dancing, partying, mingling, and digesting the dinner they just ate! I personally don’t like for people to have to be sitting/quiet for longer than they need to be in one continuous time frame. Let the party flow a little! People start to get antsy.

Ok, I don’t think you’ve allowed long enough for photos if you’re having lots of groupings. You won’t be lined up ready to take the first photo bang on when the ceremony ends. People will instantly come up to you and congratulate you, it’s very difficult to get away. So you need to allow 20 minutes to get away from the ceremony and be posed ready with the first group. A very large group of people do not move quickly or willingly. Then you need to allow 2 to 3 minutes per photo, depending on group size.

A 250 person meal will take longer than one hour. Ours was 80 people and including speeches it was an hour and half.
