Hello ladies! I think that the mermaid style gowns really show off your figures and it makes you look taller and slimmer. Sadly I’ve already chosen a ballgown style dress. I just hope that once the dress comes and gets fitted to me will still look nice. Lately I’ve been drooling over Hilary Duff’s mermaid style dress by Vera Wang. I absolutely love the fit and the fabric and I thought that it looked great on her. I’m attaching a picture here for you girls to see.

P.S. If you’re interested in hearing more about my dress hunt, check out my new blog at {blog link removed due to self-promotion policy}

I am also 5’2″ and this is a fit and flare on me. I honestly have no idea what style it is because I can’t find it online. I don’t know if it is my dress yet, I have more shopping to do, but it is at the top of my list. It is Da Vinci.

klb2748 and MissJay who makes your dress? I’ve tried a similar strapless by Watters but it too pricey, at $3,000. I am looking for something under $1200. Thanks!

I was in a very similar predicament!! Unlike many other girls who spend time dreaming about their wedding dress from childhoo, I hadn’t thought about it until I got engaged! Even after trying on dresses, I still had no idea (I probably drove the salespeople craaazy). So I decided to narrow it down by the “look” I wanted to go for… we landed on a Classy vintage feel. I fell in love with Enzoani’s “Diana” dress, but it was really just out of my price range. So I started scouring the web, found a similar dress, found a bridal salon that carried it, tried it on yesterday and……..

I am please to say that I have finally found my dress Smile.  It is Casablanca style 1975! It’s absolutely gorgeous. And the price tag is $1160. Perfecto! I didn’t want to do strapless, but cap sleeves made me feel too modest. And it has a sexy low back. Check out the pic. Loooove it 🙂

Oh oh! Also the style number (1975) is the year my parents were married. Coincidence?

I’m 5’1″ and A-lines and mermaids were the most flattering. I didn’t have a ‘the one’ moment but pay attention to fit. Dresses look so much different once they’re in your size and altered!

Hi there! Well I’m 5′ 5, but I went with a mermaid trumpet look. I don’t know if it was or is my “dream dress” but it sure got the reaction I was looking for when I stepped out the dressing room.

What are your top contenders???

My dress is Private lable by g #1395. I don’t know if this is an A-line. I am 5’4 and planning to wear shoes with 2 inches high. I tried many dresses… I guess around 30-40. At first I like Justin Alexander (a black dress), but my family doesn’t like black. So I tried this one (which I really liked at first… but hard to find a store that carries it)

@klb2748: This dress looks perfect on you! Do not lose weight, you fill that dress in all the right places. It looks like it just hangs on that toothpick model!

@DebbieN23: Thank you! I was afraid it looked a bit too snug.  I know it feels a bit too snug considering I cant even sit in it!  Hopefully when I have the bigger size altered – it will still be this beautiful.

I’m a casablanca 1975 bride too!  Love the dress!
