I love the third dress! 🙂 gorgeous!
I love the third dress! 🙂 gorgeous!
I love the 1st dress on you. Good Luck!
Azure, yay another claire pettibone fan! I so agree, that’s what attracted me to this dress in the first place, it had that flowy dreamy feel to it. I hadn’t heard of Kitty Chen before though so I’m on my way to look her up! Thank you so much for your comments, you’re right, this really is a gorgeous dress and the material is really special.
NZbride – yay another nzer! Did you get yours from Bestbridalprices by any chance? They’re charging less than a third of what the auckland shop charges, talk about a ridiculous mark up! What Maggie did you end up getting? I love her dresses, I was in Astra the other day looking at some!
Snuggly, I wish I could shop in the US! I’m just ordering online from a shop in the US 🙂 My main reason for Casablanca was that I could try it on here then order from overseas…nz mark ups are stupidly expensive. Which designer did you end up going with? I love how flowy your dress looks in your avatar.
Thanks! I love the flowiness too – swishiness was one of my absolutely essential criteria. It’s by Anna Schimmel, an Auckland-based designer who’s at the upper end of the NZ price scale but just makes everything so perfectly.
It’s a shame Astra is the only Maggie stockist in NZ, with only a very small range. I visited Abbey Bridal in Sydney and they had over 200 Maggie dresses on the floor at any one time – it’s incredible!
Oh man, Anna Schimmel’s work is stunning. Have you seen the Jane Yeh ‘Spanish Princess’? I tried that on a little while ago but $4,500 was a little bit out of my price range 😉
Oops, I meant to write “dotted Swiss,” not “Swiss dots.” I kept thinking that something sounded off, but I was tired and feeling fuzzy. Ha!
You’re welcome. I think we have similar taste! Kitty Chen is a little more expensive than Casablanca, but less expensive than Claire. Her dresses are lovely, but a little harder to find.
I may be wrong, but I thought you said that you were going to the States in the summer for a business trip..? If so, could you place an order (once you have tried on the dress and know what size you want) with a boutique in the U.S., and have it shipped? (Or with customs and the exchange rate into NZD, will it work out to be the same amt. that the NZ stores are charging?)
Nope, you are exactly right! Sadly though, it turned out my fiance is the only one that his business is sending, originally I was going to be able to tag along, but recession ra-de-ra essentially means I’m stuck here.
I thought about asking him to pick it up buuuuut….he’d have to see the dress! Also I’d like to be able to try it on. I’m still holding out hope I’ll be able to land a trip to Australia since they have more options, but I’m getting closer to the cut off date for ordering so I’m running out of time.
I totally plan to order from a USA store, I’ve already been emailing an amazing one in Illinois that has the most affordable price for the Casablanca (they’ll price match down to $792), and yes, even with all the local charges that still comes in way under NZ prices! I’m trying to remember, but have you already bought yours?
Great taste! I really love them all. I voted #3 because it makes your waist look teenie tiny and I love the flow of the skirt. #2 is my second favourite cause I really love the neckline. All are beautiful though!
#1 is pretty but it does nothing for you imo. #2 and #3 are both beautiful and look fantastic on you. You really can’t go wrong with either. Between the two, I think #2 shows your figure a little better, but I’m like 51/49% on them so I think both are awesome 🙂
I like number two the most and number three second. I don’t think the high-ish waist on number one is as flattering as the other two. But they’re all beautiful! Good luck choosing!
Yes, I’ve already ordered mine! It’s supposed to come in any day now…I’m going mad waiting for it! I got mine while visiting family in Texas.
Ohh..I see. I can understand not wanting him to see your dress! It’s really to hard to work out customs, currency conversion, duties, and international shipping costs…let me know what you decide!
1918 definately, I love it!!
The third one. It makes you look slim and in good shape. Simple but beautiful!
The third dress is the most figure flattering!! I love it on you 🙂
