I’d pick somewhere in the southwest.  We had this issue for our families and decided we’d get married close to where we personally live, so picked Moab, UT.  If you enjoy the outdoors, it’s a great place to go – desert, river, mountains.  It’s got it all but the beach.  Downside would be getting there – you’d absolutely be renting cars as there’s no local airport.  Upside, rooms are pretty well priced, we found.

Colorado would be another good choice for the same reasons and you’d be able to have the city scene if that’s something you’re more interested in (which I’d guess based on locations).  We avoid cities like they’d kill us, so I can’t go more specific than that smile

What are they meeting for? It might be simply easier for you to make two trips, one to see the NYC friends and another to see the LA friends. Sounds like alot of expense and time for everyone involved.

Is this for a wedding or a meetup? I have friends in the west coast (I’m on the east coast) and last year we met up in Chicago. This year we may do Nashville. We prefer city meet ups for ease of transportation (no need to rent a car). Other options of fun cities that are close to the midway between both coasts would be Austin or New Orleans.
