iamdre:  Please do not 2nd guess yourself and sway by other’s opinion bcuz you’d probably regret it later!

My Round Brilliant diamond is 2.05ct (a family stone from DH’s side), my Mother-In-Law (a sweet lady really) had very strong opinion on how to set the stone (which is MY e-ring). However I went with my heart and had the double cushion halo setting made…couldn’t be happier even till this date!! (Like you, I prefer round stone in cushion halo. The round on round just didn’t look right on me!)

I do love BOTH halo and solitaire but I just needed to make sure the final decision came from me alone (DH doesn’t care either way)!

I wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect setting bcuz that diamond of yours is just incredible!!

    Here’s mine:

I wouldn’t hide the beautiful solitaire with a halo.

Cushion halos are so pretty! Best of both worlds. If this is your dream go with that! Also here is a pic of my 2ct moissy on my size 6.25 finger.

iamdre:  100% how I feel.  I mean no offense AT ALL to anyone with a solitare but for my own personal taste I have always felt they were “boring” on my hand. I need that something extra.

You have to go with what YOU want to do, not us.  It sounds like you’ve always wanted a halo so I think you would regret going with a solitaire.

A quick little story – my husband wanted to pick out my ring but he took me shopping once to see what I liked.  I’ve always been a solitaire girl because I like clean lines.  When he was picking out settings for my ring, the jeweler did everything he could to convince Darling Husband to put it in a halo setting.  Darling Husband stood his ground and insisted on keeping it a solitaire.

I think some jewelers like to give their opinions on what they would do and do not necessarily care what the customer wants.  I’m sure it’s so hard when you’re in that moment to try to decide what you’ll like for the long run (I’m kind of envious because I really didn’t get that chance) but if you go with your gut feeling, it will never steer you wrong.

iamdre:  Thank you. The setting has one carat of E-F / VS diamonds, I requested the inner halo to have smaller diamonds than the outer one. I thought it was soooo cool back then haha! 14K WG, my finger size is 4.75, rings are size 5 – 5.5 (bcuz my fingers swell in heat).

just4bling:  I can see, all halo aren’t alike; your halo is stunning.  I truly didn’t know that there were some many different designs for halos.  Great Job!

iamdre:  I voted halo, for several reasons.

First, personally I prefer halos generally speaking; solitaires are a little plain for my personal tastes.

Second, I think cushion halos with round stones, done right, look amazing.

Third, and most important, it sounds like YOU want the halo, so, IMO that is what you should get.

Will your jeweller be making the setting? If so, I wonder if perhaps they are trying to dissuade you because they aren’t confident they can achieve the look you want?
