I have a similar concern. My dress has a lace back and it’s 1 size too big in the bust. Sorry I have no advice to share. I’m also hoping to hear about anyone’s experience with this type of alteration.

Yup they will just take the bodice in on the side seams!

I have the same dress and the same exact fit concerns as you! I realize with your wedding coming up you may have already gotten you dress in, but if not, I wanted to allay your fears. I am normally a 14/16 and was told to order the dress in a size 20 to be larger than my largest measurement (my bust) rather than too small. I lost 10-15 lbs and toned up a bit between the time I ordered and the time it came in. The dress was definitely a bit large all throughout the bodice, but my seamstress had no problem taking the sides in and adding a dart to the top of the cups so it fit betterIt is two pieces – the bodice and the lace overlay – and when pinning for alterations she explained that they would take in the lace just a little bit less than the bodice so that it wouldn’t pull. The top layer of this dress is actually embroidered appliques on top of netting, so when she took the sides in I am left with extra appliques that were removed.
