I’ve been sitting on our pics since October and my photographers are getting mad at me for not choosing my albums.
I don’t know where/how to start! How did you guys do this? It’s very dauntiing to me–I mean I know it’s just photos but I’m not great at imagining layouts. I have googled albums but haven’t really been able to find a tutorial on how people decided and laid out their photos.
I have to choose 1-40 pic main album up to 8×10 size
2 -12 pic 5×7 parent albums
various portraits/ the big ones and 8 x 10s, not sure how many off hand.
I’m mainly concerned with my album.
Any tips? Any pics of your albums?
Thanks!

@sehrler: OMG girl, I cried while doing it there were so many photos. And then I offered Darling Husband a lot of wine and he helped..kind of. ๐ For me personally, going the traditional pen/paper route helped me and I went with my first instincts. Like, browse through the photos as quickly as you can, and jot down all the numbers of photos that you instinctually say “yes” to. See where that takes you first, and then narrow down as necessary. I’m pretty sure there’s a better way to do it, but that’s how I did it!
Best of luck!

@sehrler: you know, sadly I don’t! I tell you what, if you don’t get any love here when I check back in tonight, I’ll take pictures of our album for you. ๐ just ask!

We actually just met with our future photographer last night, but part of the discussion was about the albums. Obviously, the final decisions are ours, but she said she’d be happy to point out some of her favorites and give us some guidance on what looks best from an artistic standpoint. I’m guessing since she brought that up, it’s a pretty popular request. Try asking your photographer for input, and you can go from there.

I’d make a list of all the photos you like, sorting them into say 10-15 “must haves” and then the rest. And leave it up to your photographer. That’s what I ask my clients to do. Of course, I also give them a time frame and if they don’t pick, I get to pick the photos. Mwahaha ๐
I mean, it’s obvious you love the photos because you can’t pick, so I’d say trust your photographer’s judgement.

We do an initial pre-design for our clients. It’s easier to start them with something, even if they don’t like all of our selections it gets the ball rolling and is a much faster process than requiring someone who has never designed a wedding album to start from scratch.

Can you ask your photographer to choose the layouts, you are not a professional so let them know that’s what your hesitation is.
