I think it would depend on its popularity, no? My dress is a 2011, but it’s extremely popular so they have it in stock.

That aside, your wedding is NOT too far away to buy it now! I actually went dress shopping a few weeks ago (for my May 2015 wedding!) and the lady said it’s best to order it 12 months out so you have time for it to come in and alterations if need be.  That said, I KNEW my dress was the one when I tried it on, and I got it for 70% off.  It’s currently sitting in a box in my basement now, and my wedding is 19 months out.

I honestly don’t think 1 year out is too early to buy if you have to order it. It’s going to take about 4-5 months for it to come in anyway. That leaves you about 2 months for it to be delayed for any reason and still have it in plenty of time for alterations.

I would probably go and try it on but hold a few more months in ordering, just in case you gain/loose weight or see something else out there you like.  Sometimes even though you LOVE a dress in a picture or magazine it can completely change once you try it on.

By the way I just got my dress for my May 2014 wedding! 🙂

Good luck!

I agree with everyone else, you should order it now.  It really isn’t too early.  I used to work in a bridal salon, and things could get discontinued for really silly reasons (factory couldn’t get the lace anymore, not available in all sizes, etc.)  If you really love it and know it’s the one, why wait?  But, when you order it, stop looking at all other dresses.  It only causes heartache and confusion.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s to soon to buy a dress. My wedding is in September 2014 and I have my dress already and they actually already discontinued it.

Good luck and I hope you get the dress you’ve always wanted!!!

I think my dress is a 2011? Maybe 2010? And it is still available. They tend to hang around for a while unless they are uber trendy. Anyhow, if you know what dress you want for sure go ahead and try it on and buy it, I bought my dress last April, I’m getting married next August.

If you know you won’t change your mind, then why don’t you just go ahead and buy it?
