My fiancé smashed his finger in a door a few months ago and we were hoping it would be healed by now, but it’s not! His fingernail is almost entirely black and we are getting married on April 6th. We have thought about painting it a nude color, but I’m afraid it may turn out too shiny or obvious that we painted it. Anyone have any ideas about how to mask the bruised nail? Thankfully it’s his right hand and not his left. We would really appreciate any tips or tricks 🙂

Oh my GOSH! We are getting married the same day and I have the exact same problem – Fiance slammed it in a door about 4 weeks ago. It’s a huge nasty looking spot on his thumb. It is on his right hand, so it will DEFINITELY be noticeable in pictures when he is putting the ring on me.
On one hand, I’m sort of thinking… well, that’s him, I guess the pics will reflect that. But on the other hand, I’m thinking maybe we can find something natural to cover it.
I haven’t gone and looked yet, but I was thinking of trying a nude polish with a MATTE top coat. A bunch of different lines make them.
I’m feeling like a sheer color, even if it doesn’t cover it up completely, will tone down the nastiness by masking some of the color and will keep the sort of natural look.
Promise me you’ll come back and update with what you try, okay? I’m going to Ulta tomorrow and need to look at options.

@Nosyla: I would just stick a little bandage on it…nobody will notice…and i would also guess that the nail is dying…

I don’t have any suggestions how to cover it up, but if you think it might be noticeable in pictures, mention it to your photographer so they remember to photoshop it out of your pictures.
