I would really like anyone’s input on this difficult situation. My fiance and I wanted to have engagement pictures taken in the new city we live to document our life here since we are having a destination wedding. We already have a wedding photographer, so wanted to look for something inexpensive and artsy for our engagement pictures. We found someone that has their own new business and after seeing her work featured on a blog and viewing other couples pictures on her website, decided to go with her.
We emailed back and forth to set up a time to have the session, and she requested that we send her a check for the full amount to secure the date. She met us as planned and took the pictures, and we really liked her overall and had a fun session. At the session, she mentioned she generally gets her couples a CD of their pictures within 5 weeks, but would try to get ours quicker. Then, the next day she posted about 10 of our pictures to her blog and Facebook page as a preview. We absolutely loved the pictures and could not wait to get the CD and see more.
We did not hear anything from her or receive our CD in the mail within the 5 weeks, so I sent her an email inquiring as to when we might expect our CD. I received no reply. It has now been 9 weeks since our session. We have emailed her again, and our wedding coordinator has also been calling her on our behalf to find out the status.
We did not sign a contract with her; because the total fee was relatively inexpensive we did not think it was necessary; also, the session went so well we had no reason to believe we could be in this situation. She cashed our check, but we have received nothing in return, including any responses.
What should we do? Thank you for any insight you may have.
