Get yourself a roll of contact paper, a small x-acto knife, a print out of what you want written from your computer, a little paint brush and some armour etch from the craft store.

Create a word document with how you want your lettering to look and print it. Tape it to a bright window and hold the contact paper over it and trace it onto the contact paper. Use your x-acto knife to “cut out” a stencil of the wording from the contact paper.

*tip: Cursive fonts work the best. Beware of letters that require a negative space, like “e”, “a”,  “o”.

Place your stencil on the ornament and brush your armour etch over it and let it sit for about 5 min. then rinse it off. You’ll get a nice white etched look on your ornament.

Here’s an example of a glass etching I’ve done in the past. It’s Aerosmith 🙂

You could always try paint markers if etching doesn’t sound like something you’d be up for. It’s really not as complicated as I make it sound and it’s fun, I swear.
