There are a couple of Brides Against Breast Cancer events not far from DC this summer:

Maybe check them out? You can find some really wonderful stuff at their events, at a good price, with the money going to support a good cause. It’s not a traditional gown-shopping venue, but I really loved going through them rather than the normal bridal-shop route.

Miss.Pretzel:  I found JCrew, BHLDN and Nordstroms to all have several lower price point options. JCrew even does 30% off at times! I would recommend checking out their sites. Also, David’s Bridal has a line of “Collection” stores that offer higher end lines. I would check their site and see if there is one near you!

Church Street Bridal is in Virginia somewhere…I also heard of one in West Virginia that’s worth the drive, but of course I can’t remember the name. Just kidding! It’s The Barn. Lovely Bride in Georgetown has a great selection, that’s where I got my gown 🙂

Miss.Pretzel:  I don’t know what your budget is – but mine is about $2,000 and I have gone to Ellie’s Bridal in Alexandria and Lovely Bride in Georgetown (which is where I will likely get my dress) – and they had stuff in my price range (Ellie’s had more options).

I second the Church Street Bridal suggestion.  I got my dress from there!

I don’t live in your area.  If you’re on a tight budget have you considered buying pre-owned?  I found “the dress” on craigslist.  Fit great, only neeed a few minor repairs, and the bride had already dry cleaned it after her wedding so it was spotless.  I wanted a really nice dress but couldn’t afford it.  I bought a Maggie Sottero dress that cost the original bride almost $2,000 new.  I bought it for $600 including the matching veil.  Pre-owned worked out great for me.  People keep saying I must have spend a ton $$ on my dress lol  Good Luck!

The Dress Matters is similar to Vows Bridal on TLC’s I Found The Gown.
