I am facing a dilemma – a good kind of dilemma, I suppose. My boyfriend is letting me pick my own engagement ring. He knows I like jewelry, and I am relatively picky about rings. I have gigantic hands, as in a ring size of 10.25 and my finger is 85mm long (3.5in). While they don’t appear chubby, they have the power to make dainty rings invisible. At the same time, I’m not very blingy but I’d like something a bit more unique. All options are with 1-2ct moissanites as centres.
Option 1: I wear my hair in braids a lot, so my boyfriend is very connected to this band and I like that it’s uncommon. I’m worried it might be too busy (I was thinking of a round cut with pears on either side, but that might be too much on this band). With the computer pics being so clean, I was happy to find a real picture – from a different jeweler, but it helps me picture it more. With a plain wedding band (one on either side, preferably), what do you think?
I love the stones in this ring – especially up close, when you see the leaves on either side. Gerry (from Gerry the Jeweler) was kind enough to scale it to a 10.25 sized finger – sitll computerized, but it helped me picture it. The only thing that intimidates me is how rounded the band is. I’m more a fan of lower profile bands – kinda like the braided above, but smooth (closer to a mens style ring, I guess). Am I crazy?
Sorry this is so long! This is the last option, the one my boyfriend initially picked going off of me saying ‘something unique’. He also picked it with a 3.8ct stone (Edit: this pic is with a 1ct), because I said I liked larger stones. So he really did try. I like the look of the branches, and as a ring I do love it. But I don’t know if it says ‘engagement’ in a timeless way. My tastes may changes as I age, but with plain wedding bands? Maybe it’ll be like the braid in that I can mute it a bit between smooth bands. Thoughts?
Again, sorry this is so long. I really wish I could give him a clear answer, but I can talk myself into/out of any of these options. I wish I could try them on! (Large handed ladies will lament with me – no jeweler has my size in a case.)
