You have lots of time, and there are lots of choices out there – overwhelming numbers of choices, in fact. You’ll find something you like, just be patient with yourself. Try not to put so much pressure on yourself, either: it’s not an either/or kind of “I will be the most beautiful woman ever seen EVER” or “I will look awful” dichotomy. It’s more like “I will find at least one and possibly several lovely, flattering dresses that work with my coloring and body type, and I will choose the one I like best, and I will be an especially beautiful version of myself at our wedding.”

What is your favorite, most comfortable, sexiest, confidence inspiring outfit in your closet?

What are your favorite elements of that outfit (neckline, shape, sleeves, etc.)

Look for a dress that has those same elements.  I am definitely one of those– I look awful in everything– people.  But I like the shape of my shoulders/collar bone area, and I like my hourglass shape.  So, I chose a dress with a modest sweetheart neckline, and a well defined waist.  As a result, once I got over my initial worries, I feel amazing in it.

So maybe you want to look for something a little “against the grain” in a wedding dress. Maybe you will be better off staying away from the strapless ballgowns that are really popular right now, and looking for something more unusual? Something a little bit vintage?

Yup going through that right now. I have bought two dresses, decided that I hate them, now we are shopping again, I was pretty sure I fell in love with Vera Wang’s VW351065 but then I went back to Davids to make sure and then fell in love with another dress that is now in the running. I have no idea how to offer any advice right now other than to just choose what you love and stop looking.

Hon, I think you need therapy. I’m not trying to be snarky or mean, but based on your other posts, you really need some help for your body image. I’ve seen a picture of you in a dress, and you’ve posted your stats, and you are not fat.

You are never going to find a dress that you love until you learn to love the way you look.

You have tons of time so keep looking and be open minded.  However, it seems like you may have a bit of a self-esteem issue.  If you tell yourself you will never look beautiful, then you won’t.  You have to learn to love yourself and your looks first.  A dress will never make you feel any more beautiful than how you feel about yourself on a regular basis.

Maybe go get your hair and make up done before you go try on dresses? That might be able to help ease you a bit?  Although, again I still believe no hair/makeup/dress/anything can make you feel any more beautiful than how you feel about yourself.

Don’t be so hard on yourself! 🙂 You only live once – enjoy the ride!

Well first off, from the pictures you’ve posted in other threads, you honestly don’t look fat AT ALL.

If you like your legs, would you be at all open to wearing a shorter dress or a high-low hemline or something with a slit maybe? Also, when you go to try on dresses, are you putting on makeup and doing your hair or are you rolling out of bed and throwing your hair up in a ponytail? Just a thought but maybe that’s affecting how you see yourself in the dresses.

“I wore makeup and stuff to the first place I went…and I looked just the same as always.  Because I have an ugly face.  So it doesn’t change it to put makeup on.  I have a snub nose, and fat cheeks and a fat chin and a stupid smile.”

well if you have that attitude, then yes, you will look ugly with a stupid smile.. 🙂   maybe it’s time to see yourself in another light and let go slowly of your self esteem issues.
