Help!
I got my ring caught on a heavy duty file drawer at work. As I slammed it…it got caught and my ring dragged with it, ouch. I thought it was just my finger that got hurt but when I took off the ring to inspect it…it is very obviously crooked now. I didn’t know platinum was so delicate! I’ve only had the ring for six months.
My fiancé had it custom made by a jeweler in Los Angeles and I contacted the jeweler to have it fixed.
My problem is…I don’t know how I’m going to get the ring to the jeweler. The jeweler uses a separate service called Malca-Amit whom I’ve already contacted and they won’t ship it for me because I’m not a business.
USPS insures up to 25,000
Fed-ex insures up to 1,000
UPS – heard awful things about packages lost and them not reimbursing the declared value.
My fiancé paid $42,000 for the ring so need to find someone who can insure for that much and makes sure it will get to LA safely. The jeweler is not open on weekends otherwise we would drop it off next time we are in LA for wedding planning purposes. We can’t go on a weekday since we are saving all our PTO for the wedding/honeymoon.
Also: the ring is not insured independently because we’ve been waiting for our new home to be completed so that we can add it to our homeowners insurance. Adding it to my current renter’s insurance would have been $750 additional. Ugh.
Has anyone used a private courier service to ship their rings? Any suggestions??
Appreciate all the help. I’m so heartbroken my perfect ring is no longer perfect =(
Thanks!!!
