Hi Bees, I need your help!
One of my closest friends is getting married this weekend. She asked me about a month ago if she could use my cardbox, and i told her (nicely) that no i’d rather not, since it was a fancy wooden box that was a gift from a good friend, and also that it was really too small for her 140 person wedding. Really it’s very very small and would definitely not fit her cards.
She asked me yesterday again if she could borrow the box. I reminded her that the box won’t work, but said I would make her a box since she has so much to finish doing before the big day. But her wedding is this weekend and I leave Friday to go out of town for a mad-dash to another wedding (back on Sunday for hers). I said I would just use wrapping paper and a shoe box, and take the little handmade sign from mine (which is really cute and fun) and use that to decorate it. She said that was ok. But now that I think about it, I’d love to make it really awesome if I have time!
So! How can I quickly make a card box? Her wedding is ‘glam’ themed with silver-grey; fuscia; and coral-pink colors. I can go to Papyrus or Wallgreens at lunch (no time to go to Michaels) and I have a boot sized shoe box at home. I wish I had a round hat box!! Can I get all the things I need at Papyrus or Wallgreens?
I have to be at her house at 7pm to help with folding the table cards (and MUST get a pedicure before then) but I figure I can just make it there… or if necessary i am “working from home” tomorrow and could go to Michaels at lunch and make it then.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Tips? Photos? Please help!!!

Gwendolyn88: I would rather spend my time driving to a store that had pretty hatbox style boxes that won’t need covering. You ony have to cut slits and glue them together.
If you stick with the idea of covering a box you coud do something like this. Keep it simple and it will be beautiful.

Do you have a Hobby Lobby nearby? Maybe go buy a birdcage there, buy some Krylon spraypaint in one of her colors, spray it down in a well ventilated area or set a fan up next to it. Good luck!

Hmmm. That silver and purple one is awesome!
That would be great if I could find a nice silver box, and then add a fuscia or coral ribbon with a bow. I have some sparkly brooches i could add for bling; and i also have a row of pink sparkley dots i could add, if that works somewhere.
Fingers crossed that Papyrus or Wallgreens has something! Otherwise I will go to michaels tomorrow. I’m thinking that wrapping paper on a shoebox could look tacky if i’m not careful.
Any other photos or suggestions on how to make this simple?

1. Go to Michaels (or similar) and get a wooden box. http://www.michaels.com/artminds-medium-wood-trunk/10383531.html#start=3 Paint or stain it. Decorate it with ribbon.
2. Get a photo box. Lots of places should have these, maybe even Walgreens? http://www.michaels.com/recollections-photo-box/10023305.html Decorate it with ribbon. Or find one with a nice pattern. http://www.michaels.com/recollections-signature-mini-photo-box/M10325405.html?dwvar_M10325405_color=Gray
3. Look for nice gift boxes.
4. Buy a pre-made card box in the wedding section of walmart/michaels.
5. Don’t use a box. Try a vase. Or a fishbowl. Vintage suitcase. birdcage. Mail box. Basket. Wood Crate.

I wish I had time to go to Michaels or Walmart, but I am stuck at work!!
I do have black photo boxes like that at home, but I don’t think black is in her color palette. I realized there is an Utrecht art supply store next to Papyrus – maybe they will have something? Alternatively, I do have a brown basket I could use but again, not in her color palette.
If i can get a silver box and a fuscia ribbon, I will be golden!!
