That’s a beautiful dress!  Have you tried searching classifieds or preowned sites for it?

Would you be comfortable finding a dress that is similar?  Designers copy eachother left and right, so it shouldn’t be difficult.  The only concern then would be the little differences in lace pattern.

From what I read — The bridal shops just order them from the designer who then puts the order into a shop EXACTLY like Jasmine’s in China or Asia somewhere and they make it. You’re just cutting out the middle man. In fact Jasmine’s may be a little bit better since they are used to working with specific requests rather than a few preset patterns.

Don’t fool yourself that you’re getting a dress made in a different way than Jasmine’s makes them. You’re just cutting out the middle man and there’s the savings. I would go through Jasmine’s all the way. It’s not a knock off, it’s a custom made item.

I am kicking myself now for not going through them.

I would have trouble ordering a replica, even from a fairly reputable site.  It’s just to easy to wind up with a dress that’s disappointing.

Speaking from experience, if that’s the exact dress you want, I’d go to the bridal store. I thought I could save money by having my dress made by somebody and it turned out wrong so I ended up having to buy another dress anyways. Its only a difference if $350 but if it turns out wrong you’ll spend more in the end. If it were cheaper, I’d say go for the replica. Or if you just loved the shaped and overall look you could follow jjmomma‘s advice and find something similar.

Have you checked PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com?  I also looked on OnceWed when I was shopping.  You can do an advanced search with size, style, neckline… to narrow it down.

eta:  You could ask the salon if you could purchase the sample…

@RMBsbride:  I definitely wouldn’t go with that last site you posted.  If you go with a reporduction, use a well-known manufacturer.  The best reviews I’ve seen around here are from Dressilyme and Jasmine (with Dressilyme making some really gorgeous gowns).

The dress can get you spinning!  I was sure I was going to find one off the rack in a mall store… umm, nope.  I’m not someone who spends a lot of time getting dressed on a daily basis, but the wedding dress became a bigger deal than I anticipated.  🙂

Maybe you could make a classified post with a pic of the Jasmine dress, asking if anyone is selling something similar?

I’ve read form a few people on here that they have ordered form online and it worked out fine. I’ve also heard from a few where it didn’t, however I’ve also heard the same of bridal shops. I don’t think I could pull the trigger on doing an online order, but that’s just me.  Maybe if I had an easier shape, I’d do it. I’m a 4-5 size change from top to bottom. So there is that to consider. Of course I’m sure you’ve thought of all this.

Also if you get the real one you can probably sell it after, or you might even be able to find a pre-owned one for yourself. Good luck!

    It’s a beautiful dress!

Oh also, if you are near LA you may want to go to the fashion district; they had some great prices when I was there.

There are other Chinese knock-off sites. I had a great experience with Coral’s Bridal- I’ve heard good things about Jasmine’s as well.

I’d buy from the original store to ensure I’m getting exactly what I want. It will save you a lot of stress. Besides, you can always sell the dress after.
