We are putting up ten christmas trees in our reception venue to create a smaller space and I just realized I have nothing to decorate them with. We are not really doing a christmas theme so I dont want the decor to be too cliche christmas. Our colors are marine blue, gold and ivory. There will be some feathers here and there so I was thinking about feather garlands but I think it might be too much. I need to do a lot of decorations for very little money. Anyone have any ideas on homemade ornament kind of decor that I can make a lot of fast for a classic wedding?

Pintrest has a lot of cute ideas for easy DIY ornaments. Even though it’s August I noticed craft stores are starting to sell Christmas decorations so you might be able to find some about now. I know Hobby Lobby had a lot of cheaper ornaments in every color available or you can always try Ebay. Maybe making a few trees memory trees, put up copies of your favorite pictures so people have things to look at.

Do you want them all the same? Or, are you interested in different decor for each tree?
How long have you and your Fiance been together? You could do a tree for each year if it works out.
Do you have hobbies, sports, interests, travel that you share? There are easy to do and give a focus to your decoartions.
What about doing a tree for each of the parents, grandparents, siblings etc. Pictures are easy to get copied and take up a lot of space. You could theme the trees with the decade of the parents and grandparents’ weddings. maybe use their cake toppers for the tree topper if they still have them.

Ivory lace trim would be pretty. You could also find ribbon and use that as garland and make bows which I do for my tree every year. Or you could find old ornaments and use modge podge to adhere feathers or different color glitter to them to match your colors.
I like the hobby/interest idea and photo idea too!

I think you could just do lights and they would be fine. We did this for our ceremony, and even in broad daylight I thought it looked good.

Borrow blue and white christmas lights from friends and familys and cover the trees in those. That would be elegant, simple and beautiful while cssting a gorgeous glow over the entire venue! Hope this helps!

I love decorating trees and many times I’ve just walked around my yard gathering things to glitz up to hang on them. If you can get a ton of pinecones, you can spray paint them easily, glitter them easily, and even spray some with fake snow. You can gather different shaped branches and spray and glitter them and tuck them in. You can get tons of baby’s breath and place seperate bunches throughout the branches. Hit up a dollar store and buy cheapo garlands and beads to drape and swag on the branches.
I’d pretty much stick with your colors and make the trees similar, or mix them up and do 2 in each color and the rest a mix of all the colors.
