You’re probably ok. Many people change into a different gown for the reception.

I changed into a tea length gown for dancing, but not until 10:30/11:00. This gave people time to chat with me at the reception, look at the ceremony gown, have my first dance/cakecutting/etc in it, but then I could really break loose on the dance floor later in the night with the shorter, more free gown. Do what you’d like, it’s the big day! 🙂

I like the idea of changing, but a bit later into the reception, after the formal parts… Toascake first dance, etc, but before the dance partestify gets going.

Steph, I say wear what you want, when you want. 🙂 There will probably be some people who aren’t fond of one gown, some not fond of another, some who LOVE them both.  As far as ettiquitte, I would say it’s perfectly acceptable to make a gown change if you want.  I’ve heard of this many times.  Also, mega score on have the friend give you the second dress!
