@october22:  It all depends on you. Like a few of the PPs, I prefer to workout on an empty stomach or a banana at the most, but if you are the type of person who NEEDS to eat in order to maximize your workouts, I would suggest a banana and some water (gotta hydrate). Or an apple with some peanut butter. Post workout meals, I feel, are most beneficial to you. You can eat a larger meal after you workout, and I think protein is a must ESPECIALLY if you are going to start lifting weights; however, a protein shake is not necessary unless you like the different flavors. Otherwise, plain old milk would suffice πŸ™‚

Good luck to you on your workouts πŸ™‚

@october22:  Your taste buds will change faster than you think. I’ve always liked healthy things (I’m the little kid who LOVED broccoli), but I also loved unhealthy things, too. I was a bread and cheesaholic, and trust me, the first few days were hell! But when you see the results (and when omitting/cutting down bread you will see them fast), you won’t miss it. Allow yourself 1-2 cheat meals each week where you eat WHATEVER you want and you will be just fine. I love Fridays where I can go to Carl’s Jr, get a huge burger with fries and a soda, and then curse myself for eating it. Loads of fun πŸ™‚

Results are everything. Not just the gross anatomical results, but the energy you feels and how your body will begin to function. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be torturous, and there are a lot of tasty, healthy things out there. When you have your super flat tummy and toned body again, you won’t touch that bad stuff with a 10 foot pole!

@october22:  I understand the cravings!!! Oh my goodness….so awful!

I usually have some sort of lunch for dinner. I’m not a huge salad person, but I will do that sometimes. Make myself a super salad with my own grilled chicken on it instead of the packaged stuff, but it’s rare. For instance, today I had some roast I made with asparagus for lunch. Or…if you have a juicer, you can make juice!!! πŸ™‚ I follow a diet pretty close to the paleo diet, so I will have the occasional bread and diary, but it’s mostly meat and vegetables. Leftovers are not only a lunch option for those who brown-bag-it to work. On the days I’m not in school, I still eat leftovers.

I think people are so used to eating a sandwich for lunch, or a salad if you are on a “diet”, but something as simple as leftovers or a juice will do the trick!

Congratulations on your significant weight loss! I’m sure you ar such an inspiration for so many people. That’s nothing to sneeze at.

Also, not all people will agree with this but I keep something I shouldn’t have in my diet every day. For example, I absolutely LOVE Coca-Cola. I mean….oh my goodness. Instead of omitting it entirely and going through withdrawals, I will buy the 90 calorie cans and drink one (or two if I’m naughty) each day and I am satisfied. So if chocolate is your thing, you can still eat it in small amounts each day. I might get bashed for saying that, and I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but it does work for me. That way I don’t go on some crazy Coca-Cola binge!

@october22:  i totally understand craving sweets. i’m in the same boat as you- mainly do cardio, want to lose around 15 lbs and get rid of the flab! what i’ve been doing that has really helped is bringing apples/clementines to work and having one every could hours. they are sweet enough that it satisfies my sweet tooth, but healthy enough that i don’t feel guilty.  i don’t usually work out in the morning, but when i do i usually have a banana an hour beforehand and then just wait til lunch to eat a meal (but i’m not huge on breakfast in general). πŸ™‚ congrats on your weight loss!! that’s amazing!

@october22:  Yeah I just do the darkest dark I can find. I crave it on my period, like before during and after my period so for most of the month I crave it lol… The trick is limiting your portion sizes. The hershey’s simple pleasures is good because it has 30% less fat and tastes really good so I sometimes do those, like 1/2 serving of those… yum! off to the grocery store lol.
