Hello bees,
I think I may just be going crazy. My wedding is in 3 months and now I am not sure I made the right decision with my dress. The dress I bought is a Marisa 839 and gorgeous, but I think I may love another dress more. Let me take you back to the begining. Originally, I had thought the Marisa dress was MY dress, that is until I tried on the Jim Hjelm style 8962 dress. I was pretty set on getting the jim hjelm dress and I brought my aunt with me. As soon as I came out, she made a funny face and shook her head. She didn’t think it was elegant enough and thought I should have a more sophisticated look. So I went with her suggestion and showed her the Marisa dress and she loved that dress and said it was perfect. She thought the Marisa dress showed off more of my curves and was classic and elegant, while the Jim Hjelm dress she thought was almost childish and “young”. So I bought the Marisa dress. Don’t get me wrong, at the time, I did love it and I thought I was making the right decision in going for a more classic, sophisticated look.
Then, 2 months later, I see the Jim Hjelm dress in a store window as I was driving by and I slowed down and stared at it to the point that the car behind me honked. Even at that time, I quickly dismissed my thought and reassured myself that the dress I bought was more beautiful. Then, last month, as I was browsing one of my fave websites, Style Me Pretty, I came across a wedding where the bride had the Jim Hlejm dress and that’s when I couldn’t deny it anymore and started to panic. I think I picked the wrong dress!!
So…what dress should I go with?? I’m completely torn. A part of me thinks that if my aunt hadn’t disapproved, I would have bought the Jim Hjelm dress. But a part of me also likes the classic, elegant look and understands what my aunt means.
What dress do you think I should go with? And if I do decide to get the other dress, what is the best way I should go about it? I’m not sure if the bridal salon will let me do an exchange; however, they may be willing to negotiate since I haven’t even picked up my dress yet and it hasn’t been touched. I am even willing to pay a restocking fee….
Sorry for the long post!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated π
My dress vs the Jim Hjelm dress:

Both dresses are beautiful. The Jim Hjelm dress is really pretty but the one you are wearing looks GREAT on you! Both are very different. I wish you had a pic of you in the Jim dress
But if you are thinking about it that much, then it mUST be meant to be π

I think you look absolutely gorgeous in the Marisa dress! I tried on another dress that I liked but I stayed with my original. I think what you are feeling is normal. You look superb π Great choice.

Do you have it in your budget to switch or do one as a reception dress?

I tried on that SAME Marisa gown (you’re at Mary Linn’s in Pasadena right?)! I really really thought it was pretty… but out of my price point. I think you’re a lucky girl who looks GREAT in the Marisa– I say keep it!

The dress you are wearing looks amazing on you! There may be many reasons why you are doubting yourself, and we can all try to talk you into the dress you already bought, but ultimately you have to be happy with the dress you wear on your wedding day. The first thing you need to do is figure out if you can afford to switch dresses. Most likely the store where you bought your dress will NOT charge a restocking fee. At mos places, once you order the dress it is YOURS and you will be responsible for the total cost of the dress. You can always try selling the first dress, but you will not be able to do it for the price you paid. Try calling the store where you bought the dress. If they sell the second dress they may be able to work something out with you. Good luck!

I love the Marisa dress! i think it really suits you, and it’s also just my personal preference. My preference doesn’t really matter though as I agree with the other girls that what matters most is that YOU love your dress.
I you love the Jim dress more, go for it. However, I think the Marisa is more classic and timeless and the Jim dress might ‘date’ a little when you look back at pics. This is a pretty minor point though.
I am really indecisive so know how you feel. Take pictures of yourself in the Jim dress then compare. Would you ask your Fiance which one he prefers?

They are both beautiful dresses but I like the dress you already have more. You look stunning it in. I like its more classic styling, while it is still very modern and romantic.
Before you get carried away ask some questions and crunch the numbers and find out if you can even afford to change your mind.
It’s also important to acknowledge to yourself that it’s alright if you love two (or more) dresses. Dresses are not like husbands. You are allowed to love more than one! Just because you love the Jim Hjelm dress does not mean that the Marisa dress is not also “yours” and that you cannot also love it! But probably for the sake of your wallet you will have to choose one. I hope you figure out the right dress solution for you. Either way, you’re going to look fabulous.

I definitely prefer the dress you are wearing, though to be fair, I’m not really into “modern” type things. Not to offend you or anyone else, the little circles on the Jim Hjlem remind of of the suckers on an octopus’s tentacles… π‘ You look great in the Marissa π
