- Wedding: June 2013
FH and I are broke. We are hosting the wedding ourselves and have run into some tricky problems along the way. I am not getting a wedding band so we’re thinking about using my e-ring in the ceremony and hoping no one notices.
No honeymoon, etc. We’re basically doing bare-minimum everything although I know it will be beautiful thanks to my DIY knowledge and art-minor I’m using to the fullest.
We have no way to leave the ceremony right now… no special way, I mean. Honestly we pretty much have to use FH’s old beat up car which may or may not start to leave the reception site and go home to our apartment because we cannot afford a hotel for the night.
I admit I’m embarrased. I know his family will be expecting more and so will some of my family, too. My mom said we can just sneak away sometime during the reception. Not together but when we’re ready to leave, I can take a bathroom break and just tell my closest friends about it beforehand so I can say goodbye in private. I’m thinking if we do this FH will follow or go out first sometime during the dancing or when my friend acting as MC is keeping guests busy.
Then we get into our little chitty chitty bang bang and off we go to our new lives together. No show. No pomp or circumstance.
I’m embarrassed, a little bit. Do you think this is a good idea? I really don’t want people following us out or expecting a big to-do.
Has anyone done this for their reception? Wish they did? Thoughts?
