I would maybe try to collect vintage brooches and add them to say, the chest part, of your bridesmaid’s dresses. Obviously, depending on what the dresses look like. Red lips aren’t for everyone, but always scream Old Hollywood to me. Maybe do red rose bouquets with black feathers in them?

@phxbride87: thanks I like the idea the red bouquet with the feathers I’ll definitely be using that. I soooo agree with the red lips I’m african american and we tend to have very full lips and red lips won’t do…lol

We have the same theme and colors. Red is my fave, so I always knew it would be a wedding color choice. I am incorporating black damask (i love the print), some suttle bling (hollywood is bling), I am doing ostrich feather centerpieces, my bouquets are red roses w/ black feathers (check out the diy sect), our STD’s are a movie advertisement, my table numbers are famous hollywood actors. I wanted to incorporate our love of movies and also the elegance of that era. I just used suttle hints of this and that.
The best thing about your wedding is that “IT YOURS”. You can do whatever you want. This theme is becoming popular and there are a few things on the web. If you don’t have a venue yet, check out maybe an old theater in your area. May be nice for a ceremony/reception or both.
Good luck and best of all have fun!

How bout a red carpet for the aisle runner roped off with the velvet style theatre swags.(you can rent them. )Also, how about large black and white poster size photos of old glamor movie stare matted and hanging as pictures behind head table or in front of a draped wall to break up the expansive wall.Movie star pictures as the table numbers . Film strip chair sashes with you and the grooms picture in black and white and vintage clothing. (can do that at a photo studio somewhere) in the center of the sash.Old hollywood style tripod style movie cameras with flower adorning it for centerpieces.Old Movie tins for cake stand .Hope these inspire you.

I had an old hollywood theme wedding and my color scheme was crimson, black, white and gold accents. We had a great time and some awesome feedback regarding the theme!
The toughest thing for us was to decide where to splurge and where to save.
SAVE: We used white ostrich feather (which were WAY cheaper than flowers) for some of our centerpieces. Jewelry and accessories were borrowed from grandparents, parents, and friends. Birdcage veil which went with the theme, but was also much less expensive than a lot of other veils I looked at. Imitation gold mercury votive candle holder instead of real vintage candle holders.
SPLURGE: 1947 Packard “get-away” car (great for photos). Vintage-inspired dress. Black and red carpet for reception. Cowl and draped chair covers.
I looked at the following websites for inspiration:
Pictures from my wedding can be seen on the following sites:
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Good luck!
